you're a loser if you think you're better than other people because you lift (srs)

I've never understood why people (irl, not on the misc since its joking/trolling most of the time) make fun of other people for not lifting or when people make lifting out to be some huge sacrifice they're making and its SO hard... it's just a fukking hobby, if you think its anything more than that you're delusional srs. it's no different than someone painting, singing, hiking, etc.

if you look down on others for not lifting you're a complete loser, 100% srs

It's competitive by nature. Do you even lift bro? How much can you bench/squat/dead?
It's all about the high score and numbers like a video game. Competitive gamers are even worse though because it has no health benefits.

ask all the fuk head guys that have dad bods and walk around with invisible lat syndrome. Thinking they are the sh*t with that one arm vein. Its the 18-25 year olds that act like that more than anything.

We all compete with each other in the gym though, trying to find that one body part thats better than the other. If we workout, we are vein to a degree. Dont act like you dont do it man.

that's a good point. it's mostly chitty looking lifters who do it the most. the most aesthetic people in the gym are usually the most chill and don't give af what other people do/look like lmao

I agree to some level, but it's kind of hard not to look down when most people can't exercise 25 minutes to save themselves.

I lift because I am better than other people, op. Whatchugondoboutdat?

Not srs.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

This one bodybuilder guy at my gym spotted me on the bench the other day and is the coolest guy. He was very positive and motivating, not at all the "ahole, up his own ass" type of guy that people make lifters/bodybuilders out to be.

It just boils down to, whatever hobby or interest you have, don't be a pompous ass about it -- be humble.

There's always someone thatWILLbe better than you.
Richer, smarter, funnier, more talented, etc.

Nothing turns people off more from wanting to get to know someone than coming off as an arrogant azzhole.

This tbh.

I think that exercising the consistency and effort required to actually push yourself is humbling for a lot of people. It makes me very grateful for my vitality and the fact I am able bodied when so many other's are not.

Well, since the body isn't designed to sit and rot all day I'd argue that in a way, it's fair to think you're better than others. Not right to spout it out though

Everyone thinks whatever they do is the best thing ever.

Lifting is a much more productive hobby than rotting though.

that's true but there's many many active people who don't lift, just doing outdoors **** all day. ex: marathon runners, hikers, kayaking, there's tons of ways to be active that won't gain any muscle
