I don't think you need that.

If you think you do, take at least one good low light/no light class with your AR and attached white light first, then decide how many thousands you want to spend on the NV/thermal.

Well worth the cost increase because if you do those upgrades on a Colt it’ll be more than $500.
Benefit to getting a hodge defense rail vs a Centurian m-lok rail?

Mid length gas is probably a little better, but worth paying hundreds more for? I don't think so, Tim.

Difference between a Colt barrel and an FN barrel??

Don't most guys change the furniture on most of their rifles after buying anyway? I mean, it's just a stock and grip.

Colt comes with an H1 buffer already.

I'm just not seeing $500+ difference here.

TLR-1 HL with the rifle kit.

If you really want night vision, be prepared to spend $2k + on the low end. That's before a helmet to mount it on. And not including the $1k+ on an IR laser that actually makes it worthwhile.

I just think waking up and them knowing which area you might be (which is where they're targeting for the $) is to their advantage in a building. So I'd prefer being able to see them without them seeing me.

I will more than likely add a light as well if I choose to still get NV. I wasn't expecting anything lower than like 1300 but 2k sounds more realistic I guess. I'll see how things go with just a light at first, but if the business gets broken into just once, I will spend on NV with no hesitation cause it would be worth it.

Biggest worry is the ****gy rules on magazine capacity since it is a Chicago business. BRB 10 rds bc thug 1 and 2 gonna come in with their 33 rd glock magazines ready to do harm to get some monies and obviously 10 rds for someone trying to protect themselves and business > 2 x 33 rds...

How many rounds have you fired through your AR?

When did you start sleeping in the vault room of this business as armed security to protect the $?

Have you ever gone by the nickname of Gecko45?

Southern AZ. Water would be precious. Farming would be handy, and the ability to protect it. Santa Cruz no longer runs unless it's monsoon season (and the water would be toxic from city runoff). Lots of hunters so.. yeah. Anything moving is going to get ate.

Most people would die.. if not by family suicides.. then lack of meds to keep them alive. Only the strong, fit, and those with the mental and physical fortitude. Once those die out, then it's the ones who had the skills and the luck to find food, a group of like minded people, rebuild society, etc.

It would be pretty ugly. Hopefully the gov't would come in with fema camps to disarm and take care of the chattel until the US gov't gets back on its feet. Being a financial super-power, hopefully foreign nations help out if the end of the world didn't come to them. If USA falls, other nations will feel the pinch as well.

500ish at least I want to say. I'll dedicate more time to shooting and practicing with the AR if I choose to have one there. Lol not even close to a vault room but I just don't trust peace and prosperity Chicago thugs and would rather be safe and prepared vs sorry.

I have to ask.. the eff are protecting that warrants a lethal response and 24hr armed security?

If I had a business, I'd just make sure my insurance policy is paid up. I don't mean to sound like a pansy, but personally, I protect myself and my family. Protection just doesn't only come from the business end of a barrel. It can also come from insurance and an electronic security monitoring service. It's not worth my time of 24hr armed surveillance and cost of equipment when I can simply be reimbursed by business insurance.

Do you LIVE were you work? I guess that would be different.

I'm just not seeing $500+ difference here.
The Trooper Colt for ~$700 plus transfer was the best AR deal on the market last week.

I should have bought one seeing as they just jumped back to $1k

AR15.com has a night vision section in their equipment exchange. That or maybe a dedicated night vision forum classifieds would probably be your best bet to get something quality at somewhat of a discounted price. You'd be looking at ~$1500 minimum for a decent used setup.

If I was in a Wakaa45 position of for some stupid reason living at a business in the vault room protecting irreplaceable cash and wanted an efficient armed response, I would take some training classes with my white light equipped AR and install battery backup security lighting throughout the rest of the business, equally good at identifying intruders and aiding in fire escape, before spending money on thermal or on NVG and an IR laser lol

I'm not moving there because of the business necessarily, but it's the time and hours I'll be spending. I might as well live there rather than commute and just keep tabs on everything. If someone breaks in, knowing I live there, I find it hard to believe they'll expect or just forget the fact I'm there. Maybe they'll just bring me food or something right while I enjoy it and they do what thugs do?

This isn't for sure, but things are moving quickly and I want to plan everything out.

And Farley, that's a really good idea. Thank you

There's a couple members itt with self-sufficient farms that would be the ultimate shtf compound.

No. Llamas are apparently the correct answer to security needs for thugs in Chicago. There is a commercial building by one of my work sites that was getting hit a lot at night. They got "guard llamas" and it never happened again. Apparently these guard llamas are aggressive AF to people they don't know. The thugs don't know WTF they are because no education and never been to a zoo, probably think they are giant super dogs. 100% SRS about this place getting guard llamas though, strangest thing I've seen for security.

They will spit, kick, and run people down and mash them into the ground.
