Genetics doesn't have as big an impact on weight gain as people think in terms how the calories you eat are burned. Fat people eat a lot and skinny people don't (unless they're teenagers). It's not that complicated. It likely does have an impact on how much you like to eat though and how much you crave food, similarly to how alcoholics are genetically predisposed to liking alcohol.

come on now sir, that was because they went back to eating a pack of oreos as an appeteazer on the daily. their metabolisms tracked like 300 cals below comparable tdee's but that's because they permanently ruined their metabolisms by overeating for a lifetime (speculation see: programmed cell death of adipocytes), not because they were otherwise genetically predisposed.

if your tdee is lower than it "should" be, oh well, sucks to be you. you can still be just as shredded.

Genetics plays a massive role. WTF are people on about.

Take women who are pregnant for example. Some women become balls when they carry a child, while others just have a small bump. Some women in general don't even have a lot of weight to shed when they pop a child, while others do.

Genetics plays a massive role in how you carry your weight. Lots of people however will just let themselves go.

Marriage stole his "glow". Marriage was meant to make the boy a man but in 2017, it just destroys the boy before he can become a man.

the fatter ones are putting more food into their mouths and/or moving less boss mane. i will grant you some variance owing to hormonal fluid retention, but generally its the eating thing.

The only,ONLY, thing that plays a massive role in body composition is calories consumed. That's it. There is no discussion.

Even when it compares to macro nutrient choices or food composition, calories are still 80% of the equation. Genetics aren't even a blip.

Let's try this. Instead of just copping out under "muh genetics", explain to me exactly what that means.

Yes, but how we carry our weight are on two different levels.

My father and brother carry a lot of weight in their belly (it shows), and nothing on their face.
My mother and myself carry it mostly in our face and legs, not as much in belly.

I'm not going to deny that this guy binged on a lot of food and alcohol during his time, but how fast people gain and drop their weight are independent cases.

You are saying different things though. It is true that fat is distributed differently from one person to the next. It does not then follow that some people gain and lose weight differently irrespective of calorie expenditure, which is what I think you have implied.

It's a hard thing to measure, how much is person 1's BMR vs person 2's, and then strictly measure tdee. One study (i think) has shown and ALLEGED disparity in tdee in people who were formerly super obese (biggest losers) of (i think) up to 300 calories. HOWEVER, iirc the calories consumed in that study were self-reported, so the study is bullshiit.

Here is a link to the studyhttp://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/1...oby.21538/full

It was important because people said "look some people are metabolically disinclined to lose weight" but my take was "look these people have destroyed their metabolismspermanently." Which is not to say they cant stay shredded, they really just can only eat like 1600 cals a day in perpetuity. That's if you believe the study, which, like I said, is suspect.

edit wtf was this thread even about

They did a chit ton of cardio and were put on super low cal diets, combine the two of those together and most people would end up relapsing after losing a significant amount of weight. Weight loss isn't a one time thing, over time you have to commit to diet changes and consistent workout/cardio which they did not.

Their set-points were probably all fk'd up too, rapid weight loss for heavy individuals needs to happen over a period of time in which your set-point can adjust with the weight loss so you don't crave the same amount of food as you did at your previous weight.

Not a science guy, but I'll take a swing at it: Gene is the DNA passed from parent to offspring. We tend to have the same genes, but we will carry different ones to determine how we are made up. Some people have less (this is irrelevant to the discussion).

The reason your hair colour, eye colour, and height are given to you is what was passed down by your parents. Some become stronger than others. This is also why you may see some brothers/sisters taller or shorter than each other. It depends on which genes get passed and become dominant.

This is also the same reason we can do the exact same routines, at the same height and weight, but our body composition can be completely different.

People over consuming calories will get fatter - I'm not arguing that. But to say "genetics" don't play a role in how your body stores that fat I disagree with.

I can tell. I am.

That's irrelevant to the discussion. No one is claiming everyone can eat the same amount of food and have the same body composition

The fuk you talking about. the ones that gain a sht ton of weight eat a sht ton of food. they think they can just let themselves go cause they "eating for 2".

They also keep eating after the pregnancy the way they were eating during it. lots of women build bad eating habits from being pregnant.

Genetics is one of the biggest cope people have come up with to explain their lack of discipline and willpower. If we're not talking about D1 or pro sports genetics are not why youre not reaching your goals. Ive met the women that barely put on weight. Do you know why they didnt get fat as fuk? The same reason theyve never been fat. THEY WERE VAIN AS FUK. This is especially true of a lot of super hot crazy women. If everytime someone got to know you they realized you were bipolar schizo daddy fukd me false rape allegations trash you would try to be hot as fuk to make people overlook those short comings too.
