Farley, what VP9 holster is that you posted on the first page?

Unreal how close the trigger ban was in IL. If they had held it to bumpstocks and nothing else it'd have passed most likely

Seriously, what do you guys say to people who say gun control works, look at Australia ever since they got rid of guns they haven’t had any shootings/mass shootings?

A lot of truth. It’s not only restricted to African Americans but yes I would say at least 90% of gun problems relative to them in Chicago.

The only time gun control comes up is after an event like Las Vegas. I always say giant, lasting policy decisions like that shouldn't be made after one event and I won't debate a topic I'm passionate and knowledgable about with someone who just hopped on the feels train and whats to act holier than thou on ********.

But it didn't. Both the UK and Australia banned guns in 1996. Both have had more than one mass shooting since then. Mass murder has also occurred since, particularly mass arson attacks.

The crime rates of both countries actually increased for several years following the ban, and have only begun to decline in recent years. If the objective is to reduce gun violence, banning guns will work, eventually. However, that is useless if overall crime does not decrease. If you're arguing with someone that is only concerned with gun specific violence and not violence in general, it's a waste of time, IME.

Australia enacted its gun ban in 1996. Murders have basically run flat, seeing only a small spike after the ban and then returning almost immediately to preban numbers. It is currently trending down, but is within the fluctuations exhibited in other nations.

source - australia's own gov website -http://www.aic.gov.au/statistics/homicide.html

i've used this countless times, but even though the murder rate stayed the same or even went up, these retards always say some dumb chit like "yeah well there were less mass shootings" - so then you get into a debate about the difference between a murder by itself and a murder done as part of a mass shooting.

its really insane how they mentally dont understand or refuse to see it

Don't order anything from savinglots. I ordered two Excal matrix 380 crossbows. Now getting the run around that they have shipped but they might not have a tracking number for another 72 hours....uh it doesn't work like that. Probably dispute the charge later today or tomorrow if I don't see a tracking number so it's off my statement. Looks like that's a common practice for them despite them claiming they were in stock and shipping in 24hours. Seemed too good to be true for $610 each.....

Wakaa you do realize that IL CCL has preemption over Chicago pistol magazine ban don't you. You can have any capacity mags you want in a pistol by law if you have CCL. If FOID only the city ordinance would apply.

-Control. Gun control at the upper levels really isn't about guns, it really is about control. Many liberals/progressives fully understand that an armed populace is more difficult to force your will on, so they wish to disarm people in order to more efficiently use government (which is of course still armed) to force others into submission.
-Elitism/personal gain at the expense of others. Many of the rich/famous/politically connected who go on and on against guns, talk against guns, give money for gun control, are protected by armed guards, have police or armed private security details, live in expensive gated/guarded communities, and often even have "may issue" gun or carry permits. They just don't want YOU to be armed. They don't want the plebs/general population to be armed with any more than pitchforks, that just makes their guns/security all the more effective (and ties into the control aspect)

Then there are the ignorant masses aka sheep who believe the lies generated by the above who know they can dupe others into buying into gun control through intentionally misleading and deceptive rhetoric, false info, appeals to emotions, etc.
Oh, I wholeheartedly agree with this too. Progressivism is all about CONTROL. They want to regulate every aspect of your life, from how big of a soda you are allowed to have all the way up to what kind of insurance you must buy for your health. Conservatism is about individual liberties, getting to chose what road to take in life. I also agree with your statement about elitism.
What burns my balls the most: It seems like the biggest proponents of "gun control" are usually people who have never shot, or even seen a firearm in person. We all know the person: "Those assault rifle Ar15's are used by the soldiers in Iraq and their hi capacity clips are dangerous and weapons of war shouldn't be allowed on the streets."
It usually comes from somebody who lives a sheltered life, in gated communities with armed guards protecting them. They feel that since their lives are trouble free and they never needed a gun to protect themselves, we shouldn't either. They inflate the "gun violence" number by including suicides, use emotion instead of logic (My town has elections coming up for the school board and town council. The dems slogan is "Vote with a heart"), and ignore the fact that firearms have saved many law abiding citizens form trouble. They say we don't need "hi capacity mags", but again this comes with stupidity. A shootout is usually a high stress situation, and it ain't like most people are gonna be John Wick and score one shot one kill on their targets. The same people who hate the cops want law abiders disarmed.

The agency I work for is going to 9mm within the next 2 years! Considering most of my firearms are 9mm, I'll be loving all the free ammo. They just had us fill out a long questionnaire about things we look for in our firearms like size, finger grooves, capacity, etc.

Do you get a lot of ammo for training? I was under the impression that most departments only supply like 100rds per month for budgetary reasons.

It depends on what the budget looks like. When I first got in we used to get .223 (50rds) and .40 cal ammo (150rds). Now it's usually 150rds of .40 every 3 months. Over the last year though, they started also giving us 25rds of shotgun shells with it. Too bad I don't own a shotgun.

Typically at the start of the fiscal year we get a lot of ammo and towards the end it starts to dwindle down a bit. They should have 3 years worth of stockpile 9mm ammo once we get new duty weapons. Interested to see who they go with, it's a huge contract!

But they have had shootings.

How many defensive gun uses have they had? Don't completely ignore one side of the scale.

It's a bit easier to keep guns out of an island than out of a nation that already has a few hundred million of them with a long unsecured border with Mexico.

We have a Right to keep and bear arms here, argue against it all you want, say that "shall not be infringed" means "reasonable bans are okay" all you want, there's no way you can argue that it allows, effectively, a complete ban on guns, and good luck getting a new Amendment passed.

What cities does Australia have with demographics and general violence and drugs and gang problems like many of our crime ridden cities?

How do you explain the United State's violent crime and murder rate being at literally like a 50 year low despite a constant increase in the number of privately owned guns, a huge increase in carry permits, increase in shall issue carry, and a huge increase in Constitutional carry?

That ^

Not to mention the whole Rights and Liberties aspect of it. Even if you stick solely to crime (which is not the intent or purpose of the Second Amendment), only brainwashed idiots or people intentionally pushing an agenda talk in terms of "gun violence" and ignore actual violent crime or murder rates.

Hey . . . any glasses wearers have recommendations for shooting glasses that fit over regular glasses? I've been wearing my glasses more lately just for comfort. Usually wear contacts and always wear those to the range. But if I do want to wear my glasses to the range, I would probably want something more impact resistant over them.

Yeah it's not much. If we go practice on the weekends they range guys usually hook us up with some more too but I don't always have that time, especially now that footballs on.

I have no idea what they're considering yet. I'm assuming they're pretty open to almost anything at this moment. I believe they're aiming for 2019-2020. In the questionnaire they also ask if we're interested in choosing our own.
Goal: Current:

Bench - 325lbs 315lbs

Squats - 375lbs 345lbs

I don't wear glasses but do occupational safety for a living. Over the glasses safety glasses generally suck. They tend to make you're corrective lenses fog up, distort vision and are typically not very comfortable to wear. Would be better off to get a pair of prescription safety glasses with removable side shields IMO. They make them that look decent now when the side shields are removed.
