Okay, here is a list of things that I occasionally try to remove for a whole month;

-Chocolate, Mak, sweet cakes
-Sweet cakes
-YouTube
-Sexualstuff
-Misc
-Sometimes the phone for a few days or even a week
-Alcohol (But I have a beer around once every few months anyway)

I don't think I've taken a misc break for 8 months, so I'm overdue.

Were you a big fan of Sesame Street as a kid? I could never watch that show. I did love Fraggle Rock, though.

Thanks. I get that a lot. I got several offers from the best Art schools but I was too good for them and turned them down.

I've successfully give up alcohol, sweet things and processed/junk food. Next on my list are salty snacks.

What will you be doing during those eight months besides mountaineering?

I think you misunderstood, it's been 8 months or more since I took a break from misc, not that I had a break duration of 8 months from the misc.

But to answer the question about what I do over a long period of time other than mountaineer, I'm supposed to be developing myself in a number of ways; learning Polish, learning keyboard/piano, reading books. And I also having watching movies as a goal - I have a backlog of English movies that I want to finish and then I can move onto Polish media.

This month I chose to watch Letters from Iwo Jima, Fences, Walk the Line and Zootopia. I didn't get around to watching Walk the Line and I watched Swiss Army Man instead.

Fuaaaaarrrrk, why do I pick the worst times to start being nice? Me, you and Toby would be an unstoppable force, I mean, I already am unstoppable but we could kill em off a lot quicker together.

.... I don’t want to be like that anymore though.

Yesh, luvd fraggle intro. Riles, your alphabets! You should do them again! She would pick a topic and do one post for each letter in alphabetical order and sometimes accompanied with a pic or a gif. IE:Say the topic is bands, A would be atreyu, B would be black sabbath, C would be CCR, etc...

Yes. Example: Lays. You're right about fat people loving them. I can't get enough of them. I do manage the calories well; what I don't like is how they make me bloated as as blimp.

Being nice to everyone does not and cannot last, Jay. there needs to be a healthy balance otherwise you'll just snap one day and not be nice to anyone.

Story time:

Spoiler!
I used to be nice to everyone, got walked on a few times but hey I didn't care one bit. Then a new girl started working with us, she was super nice and really beautiful. I went bonkers over her. One day I gave her a note - yes, please, I'm aware now about the ramifications of this - saying that I'm crazy about her and want to know if she liked me back.

I was 23 bros, lay off me!

Anyway she sent me a text a week later saying she was seeing someone...it was obvious she wasn't. I was done. How can this girl reject me when I'm extremely nice and she's not a bitch? I became an ******* at work, at least relative to how I was before. Rarely spoke to people, didn't help them with their things unless they asked me explicitly. I had been working there for over 6 years so everyone knew me and was completely shocked about my personality change.

When they asked I told them something had happened and I didn't want to be nice anymore. That it never brought me happiness, and it's no more Mr nice guy. I even read the book from Robert Glover of the same name! But after a month or so, it really drained me. I didn't want to be nice to everyone, especially as people had started becoming intimidated by me and giving me more respect - but at the same time I couldn't be a dick. It justwasn'tme.

So I started being nice again - but only to my friends and colleagues. And they kept treating me with the respect they had while I was an *******, because they realised that I'm not as soft as they had originally thought. I've not changed this since and my life has been for the better since.

If you want to know what happened with the girl, I found out she was asking around at work why I wasn't talking to her anymore because she missed speaking to me. I eventually broke the ice between us, and during one conversation we had she said "I hope I meet a cute guy tonight". And that was my confirmation she was lying through her teeth. It was enough to make me lose interest completely and act normally around her.

Eventually she left to go to Uni, popped into the store a year later and I pretended I didn't know her. LOL, she was kinda upset.

Edit: One more line.

I wasn't very different when I was 23. I've drunk-texted my crush asking her to hangout with me and told her that I missed her like a true beta ****. I don't regret those things I said because I did learn a lot from them. Oh, yeah; she never responded to those texts. Lol.

P.S. My biggest problem was that I couldn't handle rejection because I'm a narcissist. Everyone has to like me. I then slowly dealt with the fact that not everyone will like me and rejection is a normal process which everyone goes through. Marketing taught me so much about life.

I used to watch nothing but "Entertainment" movies. You know American comedies, action movies, essentially the Adam Sandlers and the Transformers'. Anime too, for the action and gore.

Then when I was 26 I dated a Hungarian girl. She was super cultured and had seen all these intelligent movies that she could discuss at length. Meanwhile I hadn't even heard of them. But I wanted to date this kind of girl for the rest of my life, and I figured if I wanted to I'd have to brush up culturally myself. So I started watching Casablanca, A Street Car Named Desire, and so on. Quite modern ones too that get quoted a lot or mentioned like Scarface, or with legendary actors like Al Pacino or thought provoking movies like Meet Joe Black.

I tried electric guitar, then acoustic. It didn't stick at all. Then I discovered Progressive music, where keyboard is heavily involved and I realised that using a key instrument didn't have to mean playing classical or 80's synth. It was quite funny actually, whenever there was a keyboard in the instrumental I thought it was a guitar. Nope, just a guy playing keyboard so fast it sounds like he's fret tapping on a guitar. Once I discovered that I found myself air keyboarding all the time instead of air guitaring. And I figured hey maybe I should be playing keys not strings.

Lays are called Walkers in the UK, and Lays here. Here is also Axe instead of Lynx. They're also called Chips in Poland too. If I say I don't eat Walker's crisps people get confused haha.

Well people do usually ask first when you have problems "Is it girl related?". I'm proud when I can say it's not, for once. When it is I'm all "Uh, maybe...but let's not talk about it".

Oh I used to get upset if someone didn't like me. "I'm too nice to be disliked". Typical nice guy mentality, I had it and I hate it when I see it in other guys as a result. I would have been a Mr E Rodger if I had a screw loose. But my biggest lesson in this was an American Dad episode. They had acquired a directional microphone which allowed them to overhear neighbours' conversations, and it was negative about the family. The Dad's strategy for solving this was to hold a huge neighbourhood barbecue, with all kinds of expensive food and drink. Everyone left saying how much fun they had, that it was the best BBQ they'd ever been to, and immediately Stan went to the Mic. Everyone was bitching again.

The moral of the episode was that no matter who the people and what the situation, people will always bitch, talk about others behind their back etc and you don't have to be liked 100% of the time by 100% of the people. Pretty deep for an animated comedy eh.

Those are the kind I could never get into. I think the oldest classics I enjoyed were The Guns of Navarone and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

The keyboard is an interesting instrument. If I ever get to it, I'll get started with the Drums. That requires coordination and I think I'd excel at it.

That makes sense. I've never liked talking behind people's backs but I'm guilty of it from time to time. I've seem all other adults do the same thing. It's weird because I thought we wouldn't do that sort of thing once we matured, but we do it anyway. Even one of the Simpsons episodes portrays that.

Good Bad Ugly was a very cherished viewing and one of the first "Old" movies I watched. Most of my motivation came from someone on the misc posting the scene of him in the gun shop.

I think the Electric is what people choose when they're not sure what they're into but think playing acoustic is for hipsters or college bros.

Dude I love drums after hearing some good bands with excellent percussion but it's ridiculously loud to practice and drum kits take up a lot of space. I need an instrument you can use headphones with.

This is why I envy Americans and their basements and garages. You can do so many things in them.
