Persistance pays off. Do you have the guts to make it to your goals? Do you have the guts to move the roadblocks and distractions out of the way?

Its in your hands brahs.

Good advice OP, but it seems like the reoccurring issue for everyone is women. Half of the misc says bang as many as possible, while the others says you'll feel empty and should chase the one you genuinely enjoy the most. I feel like those who say chase the one you desire the most can end up being a goose chase. Sometimes it just won't work out no matter how happy one makes you. I've been there, my dad has been there, my mother, my brother. Just chase your future and your goals. If you focus on your goals, Women will come to you in whichever form you want. Serious attempts at creating love and life, or meaningless hookups.
The misc needs to forget about their obsession with women. Most of that chase will lead you to a dumpster of a life.!

They're trying to create something that isn't natural just to keep up with the Joneses. What they haven't yet learned is that the end product is just as shallow and meaningless as its artificial creation. When things are meant to happen, they will; and they will be more lasting than something you create out of desperation.

Do you use a writing application old chap? Thanks to your thread I been thinking about renewing/upgrading my Final Draft. Haven't written a single thing in over 3 years. My screenwriting teacher would be very disappointed.

I use MS Worfd with the proper margins. Easy and able to be uploaded to a number of playforms. My producer works in Mac, and will convert it when I'm done. 75 pages in on my way to 120.

Questions about love, romance, partners, and "the one" kept coming up time and time again. Your answer was always one statement. could you at least provide examples of you and your own wife? You kept saying that, "if you have to ask if she's the one, then she's not the one". What do you really mean by that? Are doubts not "normal" for pretty much any circumstance? Regardless of how confident one might be of the situation? For instance I'm sort of a musician, but occasionally even after practice, I'm not foolish to rule out that a little mistake here and there is possible. I even get nervous in front of a new crowd. But it doesn't blow out my confidence that I practiced and I can do it. So what do you mean by "If you have to ask....".

When you met your wife, what was it like in the beginning? I know you keep saying things have been wonderful, great, she's an awesome woman, etc., but didn't you two have challenges and trouble along the way? What were some of those challenges? (if you don't mind sharing, of course). How did y'all meet? what did you do in the pursuit to win her? etc, how did she handle your post (you mentioned being basically a man whore), how did you handle her past?

Congrats on the progress with your writing over the years. You've inspired me to pick up my pen too!

In my case, there was clear distinction. Yes, there were interesting or attractive women that I came in contact with and dated. But no one hit me like my wife did. There was her, and everyone else. She was not available when I first casually met her. Years later, a mutual friend set us up as a blind date. We had an instant attraction (call it spiritual, or aura, or whatever you want; I know what it is but I am intentionally not saying it because its so personal), but she gave me the "dont try to tie me down" talk. So I didnt. I knew that if I went after her right then, I would get crushed. So we became close friends instead. No sex, no dating. She cried on my shoulder when guys hurt her, and I cried on hers when I was mistreated.

All the time, lots of communication, no dating ,no sex. I never wanted to get married at all. I would have married her, but she was engaged to someone else. He screwed up and she broke it off. I decided to get her out of my system, flew to where she was, and unloaded my gut. I proposed. I never expected her to say yes. She did. We have had 29 years together and its awesome.

The caveat I guess is this: I didnt want to get married. If not her, no one. No settling. Thats how I knew she was that one.

Tenacity my friends, tenacity.

From a producer in the UK
"Hi Deen, I'm a Producer-Director from the UK, I have read your synopsis for 'D***** G*******' and found it very interesting. I am actively seeking an ultra low budget action comedy and this could possibly suit. I'm enquiring about its current status, and whether I could read the full script."

Keep going. It will happen.

Here's a big indicator: do you like being with each other when sex isnt happening. I'm 54 and VERY healthy sexually. But my wife and I love doing everything together, and the stuff we share when we arent having sex is just as enjoyable as lovin. We can talk, and we do. Yes we have had to work thru excruciating problems. And we dont placate each other. When I am being a selfish butt she tells me. When she is, I tell her. We communicate constructively and honestly. We listen.

Many of the attitudes about women here on the MISC is prohibitive for building that kind of LTR. Quality women are out there.
Quit looking at skank clubs. univeristies, and social media.

[On Careers:]
I'm 25 (ignore misc fake age that comes by default when you register). I'm at the point where I have to start working towards a career. Your advice was basically just try different things until you found something that was good?

I'm caught in between two / three roads right now. I currently work as an administrative assistant in a clinic. I don't mind it. But I don't want to stay forever. It's good entry-level experience to use to make my next move. I did research on different careers and I enrolled in a masters program. I'm already bored of the masters and I don't think I want that career anymore. I'm going to ride out the masters and finish it but my career goals are pushing a different direction now. I can't decide between:

- healthcare administration
- clinical side of healthcare
- software / computer engineering (but applying it to a healthcare field)

what do I do from here? I'm I on the right path. I used to apply for jobs like crazy on indeed but now I've just stopped. I'm trying to ride out my current job until I finish my masters then I'll try again. But when I go to work, I just feel like what I'm doing is not enough and I"ll like more pay, more responsibility, and more meaning & fulfillment to my work. I'm just so torn and not sure what career is for me.

I would ideally like to stay in the health care field, so I at least have that part down. But not sure whether I should shoot for a doctor, administrator, hospital IT & tech. Heck, some days I want to do it all.

The real problem here is that, I'm not getting any younger. My peer are all moving along with their lives. I gotta get a move going.

What do you suggest? I've done the whole list what you like, list your strengths, and etc and it doesn't help me narrow things down. One week I'm set on being a software engineer, another week I want to be a podiatrist, another week a healthcare executive, so I'm bouncing all over the place.

my passion? I don't even know. I wish I could find something and really throw myself into it and learn it really well inside out and just be a master at that field. But I don't know what I like

I get what you're saying.

My concerns though:

In my experience, whenever I've decided to open up and talk to a girl, really get to know her, it just never ends well for me. Females see this and see it as a sign of weakness, an opportunity to control and manipulate things in their favor. the moment I play the jerk card, don't care, then the outcome is much better. many people are just sick of being 2nd class. even in your case, can't we twist it and say she came to you after things didn't work out with the ex fiance? why weren't you the first choice to begin with?? (no disrespect).

I don't mind taking time to actually talk and communicate, but it just puts one in a position to be some type of comforter b**tch for these girls to come to and talk while she's taking pipe from someone else. this isn't just a club rat thing. it applies across the board to book worms too. why keep listening and talking to her about her stories of other guys? just accept a place in the friend zone until she's ready to "settle" down? hmm.....

let me hear your thoughts, maybe I'm looking at it from a bad angle. But I hope you at least see where I'm coming from too. I would love the whole let's get to know each other, then build a strong communication foundation and take it further, but it's just not realistic or practical. you'll either fall in the friend zone or end up as something else. and this has nothing to do with sex being in the picture.

I don't know, big timer. maybe I'm just screwed up from rollin with the wrong crowd. but I'm a sucker for love and fall quick. if I follow it your way, you sure I wont get rektd in the end? I've (almost) been rektd several times already

Thats what not to do. If you open up too quickly people WILL use it against you. Be cautious. Never give away anything easily until you are sure that trust is built. Treat openness like money, and be tight-fisted. You'll make it.

This bears repeating:

If you knew it would all come together just one year from now, how hard would you work to make it happen?
Yeah. Do that.

oye, didn't realize this thread is 4 years old. getting old sucks if you look back in the past as it could have been. optimism is the way to go.
