Ironically it was Tinder's move to allow linking of IG profiles that probably helped this transition, as more and more guys started bypassing the Tinder match requirement opting to DM girls on IG instead. It doesn't take long before they realize that there's not too much difference DM'ing a girl you saw on Tinder vs just following all her friends that appear to be local and who don't have obvious BF's and DM'ing them too, making Tinder redundant.
