MrBourbon, yeah, it was a blast. I didn't really get any pics, it was pretty hectic during the run and since we were short me and a couple others were picking up some legs. I kind of regret not trying to get some pics or video though.

Bourbon and Rye drinker checking in. The irony is that I was diagnosed with both Celiac's Disease and Crohn's Disease, so now a single drink of bourbon/rye makes me feel like complete chit the following day. I only drink it for special occasions when I know I can stay home and wallow in misery the next day.
Some of my favorites and the purpose they serve:
George Dickel - a night in to drink quickly, easily, and steadily while playing guitar
Wellers - sharing a drink with my dad (it's the first bourbon we drank together)
Jim Beam Devils Cut - surprisingly good, don't let the label deceive you
Bookers - when you want to get drunk quickly with your boys
Buffalo Trace/Knobs Creek/Bulleit/Eagle Rare - Solid drinks on there own, good for an old fashioned
Michters Rye, Whistle Pig Rye - both are delicious, but Whistle Pig is only for payday (or on someone else's dime)

the mixed reviews on them has caused me to wait, from the reviews some people love them for nosing but they seem to be difficult to drink from due to the thick lip from the double wall. curious to hear what the rest of you guys think.

Tried the Elijah Craig 12 year last night, pretty nice.

A lot more leathery and oaky than I expected for a 12 year.

I picked this up yesterday for $30. I see on a FB group some people in other states get it for as low as $22

This has a 96 rating on distiller.com. Had some last night, completely amazed how it's so cheap. Perfectly smooth and delicious.

Between Woodford and Eagle Rare, I actually prefer Eagle Rare.

Sloop: I think Evan Williams in LA is around $45-50? Might be lying and have to check. I know my bottle of Eagle Rare costs almost as much as Woodford Reserve.

EWSB hasn't really been that great for the past few years. The 2003 and 2004 were pretty spectacular but recent expressions are only ok IMO.They really pale in comparison to the early 2000s versions.

I dunno if by LA you mean Louisiana or Cali. If the latter then it's typically around $23-25. Woodford and ER are in the same price range at $25 but ER handily beats them all at that price range. Henry Mckenna 10 might be the only real challenger at the sub $30 price range.

love some good whiskey but the better ones are above 30 dollars after tax (nyc) ...... idk bout you guys but I go through 1 bottle in 1 weekend. I would be broke if I indulged on fancier stuff :/

Been drinking the Jim Beam Single Barrel - they had one bottle left so I got it 50% off, nice.

Not worth what they ask for a full price bottle, but it's tasty enough.

Made this failed thread last night..


Had the annual whiskey release here and lined up with my buddy in the morning to grab some stuff. Didn’t get anything rare or too pricey but thought I’d share what I grabbed. Also did some tasting so I will share that.

Highland park Valkyrie— bought and they had a tasting. Unreal and deserving of the jim Murray 99 points


Glen grant 12- A very smooth, described by some at the tasting as a great scotch for women or newbs

Red breast lustau- I love red breast so I grabbed this. Smooth Irish whiskey

Caribou crossing-liked the bottle, haven’t tried

Old Pulteney 21 (split with friend for a celebratory day).very excited to try. Love their 12

Tried an Italian today. Wasn’t for me. I’ll look up what it was (edit: one of these, I know it was lighter coloured. I don’t really care what it was, won’t do again even though it was good quality. Tasted like a wine and whiskey blend)


Unlike the more subtle Sherry cask finish of an Irish whiskey this took too much flavour from it
