Who knows lmao

Might be time to consider and plan what proportion to allocate to alts though

Jeffrey Tucker called 2017 the year of Bitcoin and he's been right so far (I love that guy)

I have a feeling (based on absolutely nothing so take it with a large grain of salt) that 2018 is the year ofgoodalts

I didn't explain but my reasons for targeting the 5k level isn't dependent on the fork. once we shot up past 5k, that area has never been retested on the charts yet before going to a new high and its just too juicy to not hold out for it. its also a 50% retracement from a theoretical 10k high, which is a regular pattern ive seen in alts that spike up big and then correct back down. look at the bitcoin 2013 peak at 1100 and then a later dip to 550, it had a double top (bearish), fell off a cliff, and then a dead cat bounce and then boom, brief 50% low (buy buy buy). I think if the fork causes a drop and we dont go on to make a new high but instead have a double top then its time to prepare for impact. whats happening now is possibly a repeat of 2013 with the decimal moved over. now I have no clue what sort of fud or event will precipitate it or when it will happen, and im not making predictions, im just sharing my delusions. =p

*cough*
This guy gets it. Institutional money coming in and the use of derivatives is not a good thing.

How are some of you guys able to purchase a BTC or more in one transaction? Is there no daily spending limit on your debit cards? Stupid question but someone enlighten me! Currently using coinbase and there is a 5k limit.. Not to mention it takes 10 days for the coin to be deposited into your account after purchase?

you mean with fiat? Most here aren't doing daily purchases of over $7K. But even still, most people are buying with ACH bank transfers. Coinbase/Gemini have pretty high limits for that (mines like $25K a day).

A lot of us doing trades with 1+ btc are trading crypto pairs completely outside of fiat banking. No limit beyond the exchange's particular withdrawal limit (2 BTC/ day or unlimited if verified on most)

also, that wait for deposit of btc/eth is being phased out. Coinbase just added instant clearing for approved users, a phased rollout to users in good standing. Credit card purchases are already instant but have higher fees

My bank had an automated thing that asked me an extra verification question when I tried to spend just over $3k

I know transfers over $10k trigger warnings at a lot of banks (at least in NZ)

Also, a miscer recommended it on the thread already but if you wanna buy BTC and don't really care about selling it for fiat any time soon seriously consider using the Lykke app it's actually brilliant.

Definitely good for the buy and HODL strats, buy your BTC, put them in a paper wallet and go to sleep

can't speak for Gemini since it's not registered in Oregon, but Coinbase will up your limit after the first week/month or first time hitting your limit. Or you can contact them and provide credentials and get a much higher limit.

Use Gemini. Can wire transfer 10k/day and when you buy btc/eth you receive it instantly.

Any of you guys in unikoin gold? It started trading on ED for below ico and i bought for a couple ETH. Theyre gonna announce exchange listing soon and I think it can get some hype given the Mark cuban/Ashton Kutcher situation for a quick short-term flip.

But now that the sales are going flawlessly and selling out in less than 3-5 minutes gives the token a little more validity atleast for me IMO
I can't seem to find anything about dividends or staking for LRC? Please enlighten me?

Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

Oh yeah LRC has no dividends, I was talking about smartcash is the one with juicy dividends. Brb 3-4K right now will get you 500-600 per month with compounding about 100 usd more each month and that's with a coin that is now 4-6 cents but spiked and gas hit 18 cents in the past month.

Smartcash was being shilled by ineed$ earlier - love how that guy and GOAT often come in this thread with coins, always a good source of new conversation and stuff to research.

Still low market cap

It has huge competition in the privacy focused space though

Not sure what else to think, the rewards smell wrong to me (the whole "too good to be true" thing) but this could just be bad cognitive habits of thinking about cryptos in a similar way to "traditional" investments.

Yeah, sounds too good to be true...put in 50k and you wouldn't even have to work anymore. And that's taking into consideration it's current price at poverty 5 cents.

I saw it's 15% of the block rewards passed out to all 1k+ holders, however much that is. Actually a really intelligent way of supporting a blockchain by allocating miner's cut to holders.

I read that you only get the 15% if you did not remove any coins from the wallet the past month. What if you just wanted to cash out the previous 15% reward?
