I used to respond to these kind of questions but I had MISCers accusing me of being a secret founder, holding a 20% stake or something. I'm not a founder or a team member and my holdings are peasant. The distribution of NEM is also public and the biggest addresses are identified (like exchanges, development funds, et al).

https://nemnodes.org/richlist/

In real tea,NEM had an airdrop (free coins) and this brought 1000s of people into the project. What I liked about NEM was its' ideology. Most crypto in 2014 were cowboy libertarians but NEM came across as business smart. Also NEM = MEN backwards.

Did anyone else get completely ****ed trying to buy EthConnect? I was online for around 10 or so releases and didn't get any coins. I'm setting alarms for the last two releases but at this point I know I'm not going to get any. Those ****ers better at least unlock BTC/ETH withdrawals soon so I can get my money back

The token supply is fixed and advertisers will need BAT tokens to advertise. Its like advertisers paying $1 to get a click on google adwords. Advertising is basically broken up into intent advertising(google search, yelp, etc), and persuasion advertising(TV,Radio,FB). The BAT model is I believe a new model which is basically consent advertising. The user is actively saying "yeah its fine to advertise to me, im not opposed to advertisement"

Its a gap that persuasion advertising doesnt fill. Persuasion advertising can burn through a lot of advertiser spend by basically displaying ads to people who don't want to see ads. Consent advertising rewards users who will you view ad, and will leave those who don't out of the picture.

There will be some growing pains and different iterations, but im willing to bet this model is something thats been brewing around in Brendans head back when he worked with netscape, but the timing and infrastructure wasnt right.

Take into consideration that it has a $100,000,000 market cap, and lots of potential, and then through in the speculative nature of cryptocurrency and it could be very juicy. The crypto community will get it pumping just right for the common folk once it has some nice legs. Hell snapchat had a $25B valuation when its only monetization strategy was its snapchat ads, granted it did have a large userbase though.

Definitely. Im down a bit, but im not sweating it.Coinbase will be adding utility tokens and BAT is probably on that list. The developers are really working hard on the project rather than the hype right now so in due time I think everything will be fine.
Quite possibly.

how do you upvote on r/cryptocurrency without using mobile?
Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

I've played this fork pretty well so far, tethered at 7400$ and now I'm looking to get into alts. While I decide what alts to buy this is what I came up with, could use some opinions.

Supply Chain Coins
I'm really bullish on blockchain tech being used in the supply chain world. So far Walton is the flag-ship coin for this niche but there are other coins that are coming in. I've bought Walton, Vechain and MOD from this niche and here is my reasoning.
Walton:120mil marketcap
Walton already had a big run-up prior to the fork bull**** and its run was cut short due to this. On the other hand, they've delayed their blockchain release by almost 2 months now (its happening in Jan) so this was possibly one of the reasons for its huge dip. They recently released a letter and they claim to have finished their RFID prototypes and it is apparantly cheaper and more efficient than what is available right now in the market. This is kind of big. Their pipeline looks something like this, all of these will probably help it increase in price post-fork:
1. RFID and off-chain testing in Nov
2. Dec-Jan is release of wallet, blockchain, masternode etc. (they also said that you dont need a masternode to stake your coins but having one increases your reward.)

Vechain60mil marketcap
Vechain is basically walton but without their own hardware but better networks. Theyve been around a bit longer and have much better connections and partnerships than walton (PwC, Givenchy, and possibly BMW). Half the marketcap of walton and is not listed in big exchanges yet (just got binance listing but only on BNB, soon BTC and ETH should start). A lot of their stuff is set to release in Q1-Q2 2018 but theyve got several conferences and exchange listings coming up this year.

MOD30mil marketcap
Mod is also in the supply chain niche but targets Pharma unlike walton and vechain which are in retail. This has a tiny marketcap and a lot of hype from reddit/4chan etc. I posted about it when it was at 15mil marketcap and I was very bullish on this coin back then, still am now and I can see it going 2-3x from here post-fork.

Energy Coins
In general, energy coins might become the next big thing with hype from curry teeka etc. The following two coins seem to have the strongest team from my limited research, Solarcoin seems like ****.
Grid+ 30mil marketcapGrid+ has a really solid team and a company behind it (Consensys). They ****ed up the ico by unlocking the tokens so the price crashed since people started trading it on ED. I picked some up at a heavily discounted rate (0.0022 while ico price is 0.0037). Their ico will run till nov 10th or something so this puts a cap on the maximum price it can hit till then (it wont go above 0.0037) but after that is done there is a lot of scope in the energy sector.
Powr 75 mil marketcapI think this is a bit overbought at this point but I'm keeping an eye on it. Elon musk hype etc.

Other
Unikoin Gold 25mil marketcapEsports gambling is gonna be big. You see tournaments like The international with prize pools of 20m+ and this **** keeps increasing every year. This coin is currently trading at around 30% below ico and should get exchange listing soon (it just started trading yesterday or something) according to the CEO. Its been the most successful esports betting ico so far and I think it should do well short-term. I have my doubts though so i wont allocate a big part of my portfolio for this.

I'm looking at DOVU, Link and REQ as final coins to buy but I'm still not sure. Anyone got anything else to shill?
I think if we're to have a bullish market for alts after the fork, smaller caps are where it's at. Remember, OMG and CVC took off after fork we had in August. So out of the ones you have so far, I like MOD, GRID and UNIKOIN. Risky bets but I think the payoffs would be worth it if they take off. I'm a big bettor IRL so I'll probably pick up some UNIKOIN. Also, you should definitely check out DOVU. Smallest cap out of the bunch and I think it'll do very well IF it gets picked up by a better exchange.
