I have multiple operating systems (ranging from 3gb to 8-9gb), and a metric ****-load of software. I have a 200gb sd card in my note 8 right now and it's almost full. I think this is also a huge plus for phones with expendable storage. Sure the cloud is a thing, but it will never match direct connection transfer speeds particularly with files much larger than images.

I will give you half a point here. I know DisplayMate is pretty rigorous and maybe I just had a lemon unit but my ipx screen was terrible. I am not the type of person to bitch about the screen going blue when tilting it (i dont watch my phone from an angle) , but I do judge a phones minimum and maximum brightness and when i compared the two(ipx/note8) personally (not reading a review) the note could get significantly dimmer in the dark, and brighter outside (with autobrightness on). I am GM of a photolab so I definitely appreciate color accuracy though i will say just simply based by looking at it my note8 screen seems to have a wider color gamut than my ipx did.

It constantly stuttered/lagged. Camera wouldnt open/would take a long time, 1-2 second shutter delay when hitting the button, browser would time-out constantly (i know for a fact its not my network), and various other software glitches. I didnt mind the swiping up to go home (i liked this on BBOS10 - my favorite os oat), but all of the widgets being locked to one place that is not accessible without using both hands is questionable. And as i said the reviews i watched talked about how optimized the a11 chip was (this is typical for apple) but mine was absolute trash.

I definitely agree that FaceID is lightyears ahead of any other face/iris scanning out there right now - but this is kind of what my gripe with apple is. Why spend so much time on what is in my opinion hokey sh!t. Is it easy? Sure. Would I rather use my finger to unlock it? Absolutely. I dont think this is a rare opinion. As I said faceID worked for me about 8 out of 10 times. I know that 2 doesnt seem like a big number but when you check your phone as often as i do it makes a big difference. Also when i grab my phone as i am pulling it out of my pocket my finger is already on the scanner. So when the phone is in front of me it has already been unlocked. This is not the case with FID since of the 8 times it actually did work, 4 of those times took 2-3 seconds of me making sure the angle of my face was right.

I am not questioning anyone's intelligence. And I also do not ignore the importance of friendly competition in this space. It keeps companies on their toes and in a constant innovation race. I am merely stating that from a cost/performance analysis it is i think it is difficult to justify buying an iphone. I liked the aluminum build on the older phones better than this new style they have adopted now. Their stainless steel edges are apparently very easy to scratch (i know this is the case for the white one not sure about the black).

2017 and gorilla glass standards are getting brittler.
Samsungs edge phones are good looking phones but aren't fit for purpose, brb need a case oh it's no longer aesthetic brb it cracks with the case anyway. The worse is the cost to fix them. A $600 samsung phone will end up costing you the same as an overpriced iphone due to breakages. Samsung traps you so do apple .
I'm all for Android just not Samsung versions.

Either

1. You have a case on it so it doesn't break (which look at the tests it doesn't with good cases)

2. Go no case naked and don't drop it if you want to enjoy the aesthetics and not have a slimy aluminum back cover.

After having a phone half my life I no longer hold it or keep it in places and positions where it could fall. Its like an extension of my hand. I had no case on the 7+ and it didn't get a scratch. But if people can't do that then get a strong case that protects the bumpers.

The way I see it, iphone is a basic phone that just works, but to get things done and be productive, android FTW. When I say android, I mean pixel devices. All the other android devices are garbage. Software wise to me, but Samsung winning in the hardware/android dept. Their phone **** on the pixels hardware wise.

That's the only reason I haven't gone iphone, the pixel devices are just good for managing life/doing tasks. Too many good tools, multitasking options.

went from samsung s8 to iPhone 8 plus, both are good phones that are pretty much the same in every way srs. The only deal breaker was the placement of the fingerprint reader on the S8, right beside the camera lens, couldn't have picked a worse location.

The company I work for standardized on iPhones and I have an iPhone7 plus. I feel like I've gone back in time five years from my samsung S5.

I have no clue what the draw is for these phones outside of the fact they are trendy and idiot proof.

Geekbench doesnt mean ****. Most of all when you are using geek-bench on totally different systems. If android still made dual core phones they would murder geek-bench scores too. When you have a quad/octa core phone each of the cores run at lower clock-speeds but offload work off of each other thus making multi-tasking much better.

Example: as i said above i manage a photolab. We use a program to operate our printers. The program was running slow even though i was on a very powerful pc. I called the company they said that the software isnt optimized to utilize more than four cores. They said "Get a dual core/quad core processor that is clocked higher as the software can only utilize up to 4 cores." Has been running like a champ ever since we dropped in a overclocked quadcore.
