Restaurant at Meadowood was the best restaurant I have been to. Definitely get the wine pairing if you go.

Its still pretty wasteful though. You wouldn't see Warren Buffet going to a restaurant like that. Spending money extravagantly is nothing special. All you have to do is go to some hooded area in "Anytown" America and you'll see plenty of thugs with $1000 phones and driving Audi's and 7 Series BMW's.

Over the years I have eaten at places all over the high end of the scale including one place where a table of 10 managed to rack up a 5 figure bill.

I can say with all honesty that not only are there undeniable diminishing returns but the food past a certain price point was just not as enjoyable and no, the ambiance and exclusivity does not make up for it.

Right around $75 - $100 a person is where you hit the peak of everything you would want out of a dinner.
Eat in a deficit to lose weight.
Hit your protein and fat minimums to stay healthy and keep your gainz.
Lift heavy and do HIIT to look and feel awesome.
Use the internet to learn why you should do these things and how to do these things.

I've been to Modena you are missing out by not eating at Antica Moka and even then its still not really my style. I prefer to hang out with locals when I travel: Trattoria Il Fantino <- you can thank me later.

The problem with places like Osteria is 90% of the people dining there are tourists. It almost feels like any upscale restaurant in NYC /DC/SF. At places like Trattoria, learn a little bit of italian and socialize. Before you know it a bottle of lambrusco appears and having a good time with locals.

Very happy for you man, but on one hand I'm really glad I don't have some kind of advanced palate like you do.

BRB go down to the Mexican part of town and get $1.50 tacos that taste like Jesus's dik while you're flying to Italy to maximize your experience.

Never been to a restaurant where my own bill for food was over 35$. Cocktail lounge I can easily spend 60-80$.

I am a pretty good chef....not saying I am better than anyone....never had any complaints. Had a scholarship to Johnson and Wales but was a lazy pos kid.


Edit: Meant to add, its on my bucket list to spend over 100$ for food at some point in my life. Kudos to you OP for having the scratch to do all of this.

Those two things aren’t mutually exclusive though. You can enjoy the chit out of $1 tacos and $1k meals. Life is about a broad range of experiences

TFW when you go to a 3 star restaurant, drop a grand, and realize after the thrill is gone that a $10 Five Guys meal is more satisfying.

although the thrill itself is what people really pay for and make it worth it

It's on my list, mainly because Massimo seems so cool on documentaries.

I've done several of the Scandinavian, NYC, and SF top places, but have never been to Italy at all.
