I kinda look at it like, if I’m gonna spend 3k on a watch, why not double down and try to get a used Rolex?

Maybe a used sub or date-just?

I’m avoiding going to a local Rolex AD because once I try one on I’ll have to one.

Edit: repped below, he’s absolutely right.

If you're trying to impress people by wearing a "luxury" watch - which based your other posts I feel you are - just understand that if it's not a Rolex 99% o for people will have no idea.

Just lol if you don't think Breitling's are on par with Rolex's in terms of "status"

Most people who don't know about watches (almost all women) don't have a clue what a breitling is - everyone has heard of Rolex.

Curious what you'll decide on, currently looking for a Chrono as well but for sub $250 and sub 42mm.

He’s not saying they’re not, that wasn’t the point of his post.

Other than watch people that are aware, no one knows what a breitling is. No one is gonna really mire unless it’s a Rolex or maybe a patek

Depends on the watch. Iconic watches stand out, and get admiration, even if they aren't well known brands among non-watch people. IWC/Zenith pilots, Tag Monacos, grand Seikos (snowflake), Omega speedmasters/pie dial Seamasters, Longines Conquests, etc. I've gotten compliments from people on watches based on little more than the intrinsic beauty of the watches themselves. Depends on the watch you pick, and how you wear it.

That’s true to a certain degree too, I have cheap watches and people will sometimes say they look cool and usually follow up with “what kind is that?” After I tell them, that’s about it lol.

Don't even bother wasting your time with that. Get a 114060 Sub-c No Date. Clean classic look, can't go wrong.

If you want something that pops a little more, get a two tone blue face 16613. It is a bit pricier than the first one, but has a great look to it.

I get complements on the Seiko skx I'm wearing ATM all the time. I swapped out the Seiko crystal for dommed sapphire and wear it on a NATO strap - looks great. Cost like $250.

My point is that it's not a status symbol - at all.

this. Have an o&w with a nato/bond strap. Get tons of compliments and the combo is <400.

Most people would see the logo and assume it's Invicta. Only watch snobs would recognize the quality and subtle differences to know it's a 3000 dollar swiss masterpiece

Breitling is not on par for status with Rolex. If you think otherwise, you really don't know chit about watches.

The sub-c no date you can get for around 5-6k lightly used. The two tone goes for about $10-12k.

I got it from a store that deals Rolex in Greenville SC. Sometimes I wish I would have got the plain silver and black to not stand out quite as much.

sorry for chitty pic quality.

Breitling has always turned me off. I understand some ignore their watches are expensive but seeing the lower end if their brand in big discount stores like Ross and Marshalls steers me clear.

I would get an alpha Omega (huehue) Tag, you could get an oysterdate off of eBay for about 3k i just feel the there are better brands out there
