Netflix The Punisher: What episode did you quit at?

I got through about the first half of ep 5 and just kind of gave up. I think Bernthal was great. I loved the guy who played Micro. I didn't care about anyone else. I think the Punisher vs. Covert CIA-like enemies was a huge misfire. Him slowly unraveling a political mystery threat of shadow operatives vs him waging a one man war on the Mafia is a No-Brainer, yet they went the boring route and changed his backstory and entire purpose needlessly to make for a more dull story.

Other critiques:

- Not enough action. Halfway through or so, he's not even wearing the costume and we've had maybe two gun brawls, one in the dark which was over in 10 seconds and the other in the woods.

- Yeah no costume. What's up with that? I'm assuming he'll put it on for the last ****ing episode or some already-done **** that kind of costume cock-teases us and wants us to forget he already did this ****ing arc in Daredevil Season two.

- Punisher is presented as a very capable and good solider. Not a one-man wrecking ball comic book death machine. He doesn't come off as larger than life.

- Bernthal is a great actor, brings a lot to the role. Wish he'd been given more to work with. Likewise, I like the chemistry with him and Micro. Wish there had been more for them to play off of.

- I've quit Iron Fist, I quit The Defenders and now I'm quitting this, all of them before making it to the end. I did watch both seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Liked them, though there were flaws. I also got through Luke Cage but it was a chore, particularly the really pretty bad second half of that season.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

I stopped when the Punisher told that kid that it was okay if he wanted to be a transgender and that people that matter judge others on more important ****. Like what the fuk, looked like a script that Podunks would write lmao
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

bunch of low test ****gies in this thread. Punisher was the GOAT marvel series on netflix. OP- you stopped watching right when it was getting really good. He is definitely a 1 man wrecking crew in the show.

Thanks for the warning. Will be a no for me.

In general Netflix originals have an oddly cheap quality to them. I don't know if they rush them or something but most of that chit is amateur level chit, from production to writing.

Didn't quit. Watched the entire thing and enjoyed it.

I quit Iron Fist and Luke Cage both at around episode 5 tho. Never even started the Defenders.

Netflix originals have been more misses than hits for me.

They keep getting rid of decent shows and movies and shoving their own stuff on there and it's kind of annoying.

What's worse is they have the balls to call Trailer Park Boys and Arrested Development Netflix originals.

I agree with most of what you said. I did finish it but I expected more action and the costume and everything. Did not at all feel like the regular Punisher you see/hear about.

Bernthal acting was great though.

Is this trolling or....? I don't remember that.

Anyways I watched every single episode and have rewatched a few.

unfortunately that's crap I've had to hear in a few good shows though. I remember the scientist in the first 2 seasons of Walking Dead saying "the world runs on fossil fuels, how stupid is that?"

Yes OP, a 48 thousand+ body count is only capable and good SOLIDER, definitely not a wrecking ball death machine.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Watched the entire thing was thoroughly entertaining.

Especially when he gives the speech to Micro about how gender is a social construct and it's up to the person to decide their own gender, and tells him not to refer to his kid as a girl again until "they" decide she is a girl.

Lol what. The entire set up to punisher and his "back story" is massively important. Its the entire trial he went through to become the punisher.

Go ahead and quit but you're missing some absolutely amazing episodes.

As we have seen in Netflix take on these super hero series, is they make some attempt to remain grounded in reality. Which is why Punisher isn't some magic bullet dodging ghost. He gets absolutely fukin rekt multiple times.

Forced my self through the entire season. I love Bernthal, he is one of my favorite actors going and played my favorite character in The Walking Dead. But I don’t think he fit the role physically. I’m not just talking about height and size either, I think that was fine actually. He looks very Jewish and there is nothing wrong with that. I am Sicilian and Jews look pretty similar to us a lot of the time. But that is not what The Punisher is. The facial structure, the features, the olive skin, the brown eyes, wavy hair, narrow shoulders, etc do not fit the role physically. But i can get passed this no problem.

Then we have the fact of how much it stays away from the comics. There was so many times in the show I was thinking The Punisher wouldn’t say that, The Punisher would never do that. As I am a massive comic fan and The Punisher is my favorite character. I also felt like Bernthal was just playing Shane from the walking dead on the show.

The biggest problem I had was the uninteresting and annoying side characters that watered down each episode.

When we look at past Punishers for example Ray Stevenson fit the role the best physically but the movie was too corny and he didn’t have the acting chops or supporting cast to make the movie good.

Thomas Jane got the personality down perfectly. The cold deminor, the strong silent type. The pain and depression that he is going through because of the loss of his family. You can feel his emotions, you as a damaged man. With Bernthals character it’s just an angry man. He places Frank very one deminsional. I’m sorry, I say this as a massive Bernthal fan that was hoping he would pull of the role. Also Jane had a best supporting cast and script which helped as well, and he fit the role enough physically.

Dolph was obviously the worst and his Punisher was a awful movie.

Not according to OP, according to OP the character is too unrealistic, not like the comics version.

Yeah I am assuming it was a funding issue and to secure more funding they had to be more liberal.

I remember hearing netflix gave them a budget and they ate it up by something like episode 6, so it makes sense all the SJW stuff started around episode 7. Wonder who they secure the funding from, PETA or someone I guess?

lol ok I get it.

Alot of major shows do try and slip in sjw crap or tick the boxes (Walking Dead for instance) but Punisher didn't feel like that at all.

In fact they were trying to be neutral on stuff like guns.

The whole point of that speech was to show that through Frank's massive kills he's been broken down to a man who view other humans as meat that he has "consumed" aka killed and he wants others to do better and not kill.

You fukers should read a book sometime so you don't take everything so literal.

i agree.. it was definitely on the boring side for the punisher. they made him way too human for someone i wanted to wreck chit

he kind of got his azz handed to him multiple times.. eventually coming out on top

that being said, i think i liked it up until episode 8 or something

the lil friend- bruv thing was annoying as chit. either kill his azz mercilessly (for setting up your family) or let him go ..

Spoiler!
but i am glad he made him suffer instead of killing him.

yeah, thats a good theory TBH, makes total sense.

Especially because its at episode 5, just a couple of episodes before, when the Punisher enters a highschool classroom and sticks a 9" polish sausage up his ass, while telling kids that getting pleasure from anal sex is not for gays only.
And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

the lil friend- bruv thing was annoying as chit. either kill his azz mercilessly (for setting up your family) or let him go ..

Spoiler!
but i am glad he made him suffer instead of killing him.

Don't think Frank new Billy was betraying him till like the last few episodes boyo

As for the asskickery - Frank did plenty of it. I'd probably like the show less if Frank was John Wick'ing all these elite spec ops soldiers. best thing about the Punisher is how real it is. He spent actual show time recovering from his wounds.

i think the punisher scene in the prison in daredevil was more badazz than anything he did on his show

i thought the "punisher" was straight up ruthless - but as i said, he was rather human

Yeah it's trolling, lol. Because people kept posting in other threads that Punisher was "more sjw crap".

I saw the scene with the Kingpin but that was it. He was pretty damn awesome in this series though.
