The more I read about CME the more of a bad feeling I get that we’re going to witness the crash of a lifetime. Only whales have something to to gain out of this. It’s straight gambling.

DRGN, moon possible, but a slight longish hold. Excellent upside.
GRS, hold until before Christmas, then exit. It took a nice dip, so nice entry. I don't know much about DNA.

Will the exchanges be able to handle the kind of manipulation that might happen with futures?

No. Not unless you’re an experienced veteran trader and can actually do proper TA. Most crypto traders would get destroyed on something like FOREX day or margin trading. The reason it’s been smooth sailing thus far is because you’re trading against utter noobs who have no clue or the markets are so volatile.

The fallacy goes like this: Get every tom, dick and Harry to pump BTC. Then launch futures, manipulate the f*ck out of the market. Average joe loses the 20K he spent on his new 0% APR card and goes into debt. Whales win.

Scary sh*t. I’m glad I read up on it.

What I’m arguing is that is is NOT more important to gain relative BTC value over dollar value. The overarching goal is dollar gain.

1) Buy DRGN
2) Buy GRS

I mean these as buy now, buy today. I mentioned these before, but they are not done.

DRGN was recently released by the team. They went on EtherDelta. They can still be bought despite the price and held for profit. GRS is a quicker flip, you must hold until nearing Christmas.

Peace.

This. I understand the goal measuring value in satoshis but you’re making the huge assumption that the satoshi is an all encompassing bedrock that will stay stable or always go up. Say over Dec 9th-18th (during futures launch) BTC drops significantly (a few K) now you’re at the same satoshi value but you’re only breaking even in USD. If you measured in USD all along (which let’s be honest, is the end goal) you’d have a much clearer picture of what happened.

The reference point should always be the most stable value.

Ya, regardless what people say, they care about dollar value.

That said, crypto in it's current state is all tied to BTC so obviously increasing BTC value as of now pretty much always means better dollar value with any alt as well.

I myself am kind of torn though as I would like to increase my BTC value with trades, I also don't want to be 100% BTC in case the Utopian bitcoin scenario does not happen where it forever remains the gold standard and alts overtake it in gains/dollar value.

How to manipulate the BTC market when the futures are cash settled?

Exchanges will quote prices based on market price of actual BTC trades

The market is manipulated on the basis of future predictions.

It’s kind of how a betting agency/Las Vegas odds gives credibility to a boxing fights outcome and how you’d bet on it. Not that it would influence how the fight goes but in the case of a cash market it influences people’s decisions to pump or dump.

In a cash market, the bulls hold all the power - especially in crypto where you can use sell walls etc. The futures market gives equal power to the bears and the little fish.

You forgot to mention that it’s easy to trade and still be profitable in a bull market. But ye, due to regulations etc the real trading companies are still focused on traditional markets. If and when BTC becomes a commodity that the mainstream trades, their algorithms will swipe up any easy value off the market in a nanosecond.

If anything is going to get wrecked, it'll be BTC. The futures market probably won't even hedge on anything apart from BTC initially because they have the greatest chance of shorting it and making mega bucks.

They don't want or need to short small fries like XLM, IOTA or LTC (yet) or they will die after the BTC panic begins involuntarily (if they manage to short it).

Great article from the Financial Post:

"One of the greatest shorting opportunities ever': Hedge funds ready to bet against Bitcoin"http://business.financialpost.com/in...inst-bitcoin-1

This. depending on the conference the price will either continue to rise or fall. But till then we should except XLM to increase due to speculation surrounding the conference and people jumping onboard because of the gains over the last 2 days

Don't underestimate store of value. There's potentially trillions in market cap there. A single BTC is already becoming unattainable. I'm trying to grab whole ones before they're really out of reach.
