Because Star Wars was originally an archetype inspired by British Imperialism vs American Rebellion, and accents were a core distinguishable trait to either side. Which is why the Imperials in the original trilogy all have British accents, and the rebels have American accents.

In the universe of Star Wars: the British accent represents "Imperial Basic" whereas most of the rebels just speak Basic or Outer Rim Basic in Luke's case.

Honestly I never really bought into this sjw is taking over hollywood talk that has been around misc for years.

Until recently. When you see all these female leads in roles that do not fit them. I just can't take some 90lb girl seriously as she is physically beating teched out 230lb males. Or given leadership roles in the military/gov.

Yeah like a group of battle hardened marines is going to follow some clueless broad with zero combat experience. It actually sickens me that in the future all media is going to be like this. It is going to poison the mind of children. Can't imagine how screwed up kids will be in 20 years.

The movie was awful.

Like really really bad. Half of the movie was completely avoidable from a plot/endgoal standpoint and that fat asian chick served no purpose at all.

It's really an old movie trope in general.

Even in the Kirk Douglas film "The Vikings", the English villains all, obviously, have English accents. The Viking heroes all have American accents. It's so pervasive that I'm surprised there are no WWII movies with British-sounding Nazis and American-sounding British.

I can't take that emo boy seriously as a villain. All the characters kind of suck. They don't draw you in like good movies should. Very poor casting imo. The movie had potential but ruined by some truly odd decisions.

Doesn't matter I guess because in the end it will gross half a billion and that is all that studios care about.

Tbh the minute disney purchased Star Wars you should have known this would happen. Also, hollywood is liberal SJW, i.e. water is wet, what do you expect?

The 7th one was a 5/10 at absolute best, and was essentially an SJW version of the new hope original. I dont care if there are female leads with diversity and chit, but it's so obviously forced it's cringe worthy.

every year everyone complains about this.

We know these movies will suck. They end up sucking. So why do people keep going to see them and giving them $$$ in the process?

I was a huge Star Wars fan when younger and I have absolutely no interest in seeing the ****show that passes itself off as Star Wars today. Rather watch one of the old movies or read one of the novels.

These films are worse than the prequels, half of T.L.J. does not matter to the main plot. It's just giving these side characters something to do, or an excuse for an action scene.

Kylo at least actually has a back story, character arc, and motivation. Nobody else does, two films in.

I was hoping on more Rey backstory so it explains her overpowerful jedi powers and how she somehow managed to do mind manipulation. If it doesn't by this movie, I'll 100% consider her a mary sue.
