Guess it's a matter of perspective because I find the humor tasteful (who doesn't like a funny guy?) and he's incredibly brave. Dude was about to sacrifice himself to stop that giant battering ram. He was the first to say he had a plan (even when he didn't) in order to save Rey. He picked up a fukking light saber and tried to fight Kylo in defense of his friend. From my PoV Finn is fukking awesome.

Thing is, that off-movies they gave him a background of being a badass top Stormtrooper, who had a change of heart on Jakku - which would have been a perfect character arc -, then we get a former sanitations guy - "That's not how the Force works" clip from TFA - who is pining for Poe, then for Rey, and is just a very generic very forgettable comedic relief character.

I felt like this in Rogue One as well, don't know how so many people liked that movie, I was just wanting it to be over with halfway through.

The only truly enjoyable part of the movie imo was the last like 10 mins

Agreed, sounds like hollywood in a nutshell. Forced diversity + bigotry of low expectations + typecasting black people solely as entertainers, imo, just cheapens black actors and black people in general. Make roles merit based and don't typecast people and I would bet good black actors would rise up to it and be much better roles.

I've always enjoyed Idris and he is one of the few to do it.

If i had to remake this whole series I'd of probably had Kylo kill Snoke but then instead of doing the typical Master/Apprentice thing that always happens with the dark side he flips the script and does like a dark side group of Jedi (ones he snatched from the temple) where he's the leader.

Then in this film i'd of had Luke Skywalker attempt to go toe-to-toe with them in order to protect Rey + rebels (knowing that her force strength although not developed yet) and sacrifice himself so that she can get away and finish training elsewhere (maybe with that Maz character or something).

At the end of the film and into the final film i'd of had Rey finally reach her Jesus status, develop Finns force abilities (i thought he was force sensitive), and go molly-whop Kylo and the Dark Jedi with Finn at her side as her apprentice.

Poe can be the whole rebel side story thing during the process.

I like your idea for Kylo, though Disney/Lucasfilm will probably never do it. They're hellbent on the Rule of 2 for Sith, even though the Old Republic style of having armies of Sith is way cooler. I heard they may even do a Darth Bane movie, and he's the source of the Rule of 2.

I feel bad for the black audience, they had you dudes thinking that Finn was going to be some black Jedi leading man with their TFA teasers only for him to turn into some pointless bumbling idiot who gets to kiss a fat Asian chick.

You know Disney just messed up with Finn when you can just youtube a random scene from any of the animated series - including the 5 min/episode Clone Wars - and see that fuking CLONES of the cardboard character Jango Fett had distinct personalities, character traits and arcs. Won't even mention Republic Commando. Instead they opted for this.

Pretty sure the most basic of things they needed to do to make older fans happy, that any literal moron could figure out, and it have no bearing on the story - is if you are going to kill Luke, it needs to be a blaze of glory. Not dying from stressing out as a fukin hologram.

Snoke and Kylo aren't sith. The sith died off decades ago (Palpatine). Snoke and Kylo are just force users who embrace the dark side, they don't necessarily follow the customs/rules of the Sith.

No rule of 2 is necessary. My main gripe about Snoke being dead is that I don't consider Kylo a proper antagonist. Kylo should be the one being saved/redeemed in the end while he and Rey find a way to defeat the looming evil of Snoke by sacrificing a ton.

We're severely missing a Palpatine figure for episode 9 who strikes fear into everyone. Kylo is moody and whiney, he's close to breaking. He already got his ass handed to him in both movies by Rey. How embarrassing. I just wish he was as intimidating as the beginning of TFA led me to believe. As soon as his mask came off for the first time it all went downhill from there lol.

Only thing they should have done is to give a 20-30 min scene with Luke and Leia sacrificing themselves in a seemingly hopeless battle against the First Order, pulling some major Force chit, all of it just to pass on the torch to the new characters and give them a new hope etc. That's it. Old heroes go out with a major bang just to give a glimpse of hope to the new cast and they take care of the rest.

At minimum that's what they should of done. Maybe kill off Han Solo first in the final battle, which then causes Leia to go full rage hidden force mode and eventually die, then Luke mops up and self-sacrifice to let the rebels get away.

It's sad that people on this forum and reddit can come up with better plot lines during a 5 minute chitter break than these so called artist in hollywood that got to fumble around with it for a few years.

They could be merely Dark Jedi or whatever, problem is, Kylo BenRen is merely a member of a bullchit order called Knights of Ren (which we know nothing about), while Snoke was just a random baddie with no apparent relations to anyone.

Exactly. They needed to flesh out who these people are. We got one little flashback with Luke trying to murder Kylo in his sleep (don't even get me started on how horribly out of character that was). And in TFA we got another flashback with Kylo and the knights already in full armor destroying the temple. So which was it...?

The knights of Ren are actually supposed to be Kylo's team. He's thier leader. And that elite team was supposed to be menacing as fuk. They **** all over prime Luke and his Jedi students for Christ's sake. Now in the movie they're nowhere in sight and their leader is a lil **** who screams at people and angrily bashes inanimate objects when he's frustrated. Pathetic.

Sad thing is, they could have included a relatively short scene - 20 mins for the 2,5 hours movie - with the Skywalker twins as I mentioned, have them return at the end as Force ghosts, paid their respects to Carrie Fisher, tipping their hat to Mark Hamill, and most of the audience would be perfectly happy.

I am so glad I'm able to go to the theater for a couple hours and enjoy sickening visuals and a decent story without getting butt-hurt over the subtext. I'm certain most of you doing the bitching went in looking for all the chit you're complaining about... strong sabotaging what could have been fun experience.

Enjoyed the movie. Hoping they work in some kind of time jump between episodes VIII and IX now... I want confident full power force users for the finale.

Poe can be the whole rebel side story thing during the process.
not bad, although pretty similar to the original trilogy

very pathetic movie and leaves more questions than answers....

i mean snoke.... who is supposed to be some bad ass with the force, able to pull a palpatine and start the first order right from under the republic's nose.... shows no back story about him, about how powerful he was or how he did it, and gets snuff'd out by one of the oldest tricks in the jedi book.

then kylo.... who has skywalker blood and skilled in the force, gets cucked by ray (a fukcing noob) and has a hard time handling a bunch of elite fist order body guards. vader would have simply picked them all up at the same time and forced choke them all.... yet kylo cant handle a little 2 on 1 action

Dude they are Sith. JJ Abrams had no clue what he was talking about when he tried to distinguish Snoke + Kylo from the classic Sith archetype. He says Snoke and Kylo aren't Sith yet operate EXACTLY THE SAME as Vader and Palpatine (they even worship Vader in the movies).

Another big gripe i have (1 of 2, i thought the movie was 8/10) is for snoke:

Spoiler!

Turns out he's just a really powerful nobody. But REALLY powerful. An arrogant powerful dark force user. Not smart, not some ultimate cunning master like Palpatine. Just very powerful. I want to know his backstory.
