Someone on my Social Media is currently in Egypt for their birthday...

Imagine being one of those people looking at the cool "monument" when someone starts capping innocents with some 7.62 hate and a few IED's.

I don't mind experiencing things I enjoy, and would like to visit and travel. But lel @ going anywhere in the middle east/Europe right now. Would rather die swimming with sharks or somesht, than die to some pissed off smelly bastard who believes in magic.

For me, it's mostly the natural beauty of these places, there are some seriously beautiful places to see in some third world countries. My favorite holiday ever is still the boat cruise i took to Vanuatu. Some of the most beautiful rainforests / waterfalls and crystal blue water i've ever seen.

I've had some of the best times of my life in poor countries partying on the beach drinking $0.75 cent beers, and dancing my heart out. Conversely enough I've had some of the most chitty experiences visiting a major city tourist hot spot surrounded by thousands and thousands of tourists, and money hungry vendors willing to do just about anything just sort of cutting my hand off to get my money.

Many poor countries have beautiful landscapes, architecture, and history and i don't understand how people wouldn't want to visit somewhere just because it's "poor". I'd rather go on a safari in kenya or trekking in nepal than get sh!t faced in ibiza.

Main point is that you get to meet so many new people that are so different to you, see how they live and their struggles and enjoyments in life.

Funny hyperbole. In reality, most people in the west can't afford $5,000 - $10,000 per annual on vacations. For the young travelers, it's usually their middle-upper class parents who are footing the bill. Granted, I've met the rare exception like a broke woman who paid for a vacation with her credit card and then spent the next years paying it off.

Maybe the only peasants you see traveling are rags-to-riches YouTubers or something but I doubt they're anywhere common.

Not really. The window women in Netherlands / Germany are pretty cheap these days, as are brothels. Czech Republic is also pretty cheap too. Thailand / Philippines aren't representative of prostitution in most poor countries (where in most countries it's highly illegal or more expensive than some Western European countries).
