About the topic at hand I do think it's very cringey. IMO an athlete is someone who does something competitively, usually on a team. They need to be able to integrate various skills and train specifically to work on those skills. Going to the gym for your personal health and aesthetic gains does not make one an athlete. There are exceptions like solo competitions or one on one events like boxing, MMA etc.

Blows my mind.
If you don't believe lifting heavy weights makes you an athlete great. If someone else does that's great, too.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

To be an athlete there must be some kind of competition going on. Some objective to achieve.
If you benched 225 last week and you're going for 235 this week. In a way you're competing against yourself and that's what many sports are.
In basketball: You compete against yourself when doing free throws
In golf: The entirety of it you're competing against yourself
In boxing: You're competing to come in there at the best shape you can be in
Ultimately most sports come down to what you've done with yourself rather than what you're doing in opposition of someone else.
Catching, running, jumping, kicking, throwing. Endurance. It's all self competition to determine what your skills are. If you're at your peak then you can do what you want in the game- you control the field. If someone else is at their peak or their peak is higher then yours then they control the field.
If these women push themselves and feel a sense of competition in their lives- Why does it offend you? Live your life. There's no need to be bothered by what others do or how they see themselves. The important thing is to skill yourself.

I think Im an athlete...until I shoot a basketball, catch a football, swing at a baseball, or kick a soccer ball
Lifting/ bodybuilding makes is far from athlets. If anything, it makes us less capable to play REAL sports.
I played tennis for 20 years and if I tried now, Id fukin fall apart

Drove past an insta model doing a photo shoot of her "workout" in the center of the busiest street downtown:
One photographer, her lululemons, doing a plank, on the grass.
I rolled down my window and said, "instagram? Really?"
Then decided not to hate on her hussle.
Next topic.
I just recently began to see myself as a multi-sport "athlete," although I don't compete, and I'm working to get lean.
According to the strength standards chart, I am between an advanced and elite level athlete.
If you play a sport regularly, you are an athlete, yes? Are we really going to say that Arnold was not an athlete? As hard as he trained? 5hrs a day for years?

If by training for life she means training to sl00t around in tight clothing hell yeah. She's training for life.
Honestly gym shark has some genius level marketing. And female's into 'booty building' or that spend all their time trying to meet the new 'fit' beauty standards are 10X hotter then the previous beauty standards set by the modeling/fashion industry (which is run by gay men).

i dont mind attentionWhres but sometimes it becomes annoying when girls upload videos and photos of themselves working out, not one, two or three... a lot of them daily! like look at me .. I understand if you are a trainer and u are trying to get yourself out there but otherwise why seek so much attention? do u workout for urself or just to brag about it? I rather start a blog than post stuff like this all over the social media
