I've only had one minor difficult moment in public raising three sons.

I just had the epiphany last week that I was officially "ready" to have a family should I ever meet the right woman.

I broke up with my ex 2 years ago and 100% indulged in me and me only. Talking to as many women as I wanted, going where I wanted when I wanted. It has been the most awesome time. Last week I treated myself to a nice hotel, and for shts and giggles I ran myself a bubble bath with a bunch of craft imperial stouts and porters.

20 minutes into the bath (and 3 beers in) I just started lol'ing outloud by myself, I was like "what the fuk am I even doing with my life?". Fuking Christmas season and I'm getting hammered alone in a bubble bath in Paris.

Granted, I did actively think of the many couples I see regularly miserable with their screaming kids vs that care free moment I was living but I'm ready to take that on I think. What else am I gonna do? I've banged blondes, brunettes, short, tall, big ass, pancake ass, juicy teds, no ted having women multiple times over in multiple countries with various accents.

I'll be 31 next summer so I think I'm in the GOAT window to find a wife where I'm still young enough and attractive enough to find something prime but not so young where I feel I've "cut my fun off too early". This is not coming from a "I'm 30 and everyone else is doing it" place. It's coming from a place of genuinely not liking clubs anymore, not enjoying being around a new girl every week, and wanting a new challenge/story for my life.

40+ years old and still running tinder, pub, random pickup game? hard pass.

lol whatsup red.

These threads always bring the lols as the parents crew tries to convince us otherwise. I wonder why 90% of parents try to convince others to have kids while most of no kids crew doesn't feel the need to do so? Just food for thought.

Tbh I feel like I get like 50% of the parenting experience at work anyway, namely spending most of the day handholding helpless retards who could not survive another week without my constant effort and attention.

No my boys were pretty easy. Everywhere we went people would come up to me and say you have the most well behaved children.

No tantrums in stores. I would allow them to act as wild as they want outside or most times at home.

But when we went somewhere I would tell then we can't do that in a store. People are working and trying to make money.

They just listened.

Actually only two instances in public with three children. I had forgotten one.

That's also something I don't understand. Why do people worry about child support?

They're my kids. Why wouldn't I want to support them? I don't begrudge my ex money.

Maybe it's because they never had to go to daycare?

I don't know. Sure some sleepless nights when they were newborns.

There were medical crises but that wasn't because of their behavior.

We never gave them a bedtime before school age.

When they were tired they would sleep.

The only thing I personally didn't like is my ex wanted the babies in the bed and not a crib.

She was worried about SIDS.

- No kids
- No marriage
- No more romantic relationships

I'll likely live a generally angry, stressful, and miserable life with some bright moments here and there but it's whatever. We all die one day, and I'd rather die young anyways.

Im mid 30's. I love kids and have 2 nieces and one nephew who are awesome but would never have kids of my own. Between work/business and relaxation time, there's not much room for anything else really. Last thing I want to do when I come home is feed an open mouth and wipe the ass of a toddler. I enjoy the peacefulness when I come home and if the gf wants to go out that night I can just pick up and go -- not take 1 hr to get kids ready like my sister. No thanks, Geoffrey.

No desire to persuade anyone to have kids if they don't want to.

But if you are under 35 or so I think there is a good chance you will change your mind.

Some people probably shouldn't do it anyway. AFAIK personality disorders are all based in some part on childhood trauma and patterns tend to repeat in families. Even read a theory that all personality disorders are adaptations to complex PTSD from repeated childhood trauma.

Most of us muddle along and do the best we can.

And then some people are just awesome parents...love doing it and are good at it too.

Also don't buy that parenting is easy if you just apply yourself.

Awesome if it goes that way, but sometimes children have physical/mental problems that are challenging. My daughter had plenty of public meltdowns and taking her along to do things wasn't just as easy as going alone. She was diagnosed with sensory processing disorder...not her fault and not our fault either. Not much of an issue now; awful when she was a toddler.

IMO people that are able to maintain a healthy committed relationship, are financially stable, and don't have serious physical/mental health issues should at least have one child.

Because as already mentioned a lot of children are born to people that aren't fit or able to raise them well. See Idiocracy...

hate this fukking argument. If you need children to see life in a way that is bigger than yourself then you're doing it wrong. Kids are not the be all, end all of enlightenment. In fact, they're often the scapegoat.

I was waiting for a train a couple weeks ago and there was a baby who wouldn't stop crying and I honestly felt like I was goingmadand in that moment I was angrily thinking to myself that I'm never having kids lol. I can understand a little why people wouldn't want them, the thought of not being able to just up and leave the house whenever the hell I want is quite off putting.

Having said all that I still definitely would love to be a mother, and it's a deal breaker for me if a guy says he doesn't want kids. I absolutely adore babies and there is nothing purer, cuter or more innocent than a baby.

With all the downsides to having kids there are many more upsides and I truly believe there's nothing else that would give me as much sense of purpose in life as being a mother would. (not right now though, hopefully in about 10 years time lol)

For a long time I was convinced I wouldn't have kids but now I start to reconsider and would like to have some around 29-30. I feel like every 20 something goes through the "I'll just save money and travel" phase but to some end that feels vapid and short-sighted.
