could a global currency and a niche token co-exist? probably. i dont know how likely that is though

just to give you an example of two different coins that have their own niches you have factom that works on the data layer of the blockchain and walton which takes aim at supply chain problems; energy, efficacy, organization, counterfeit, speed, etc. all with labels of consumer products or even more.

it'd be like UPS having its own crypto and having all of its amenities within the supply chain niche vs. bitcoin existing as the "global currency" (im not saying this is likely, just using it as an example)

as i said before, i do think that could happen, but i do find it hard to ascertain value between those projects sometimes. what relevance and why would the UPS chain need to exist when bitcoin exists as a global currency?

if im 100% honest id be more inclined to say the niche products will always be around; highly applicable, highly attuned and highly relevant to their own industries.

i know this seems a myopic example, but look at how the dollar exists and then look at video game currencies, all within their own little projects in their own communities. people exchanging actual money for them all of the time and one currencies existence doesn't affect the others; they just stay strictly within their own lil games

For alt coins. Lets say you buy ripple at 1usd and ETH is at 800 usd. Ripple goes up to 2usd. Is it better if ETH drops or gets higher when its time to sell the Ripple coins.

You mean sell the ripple at $2? You would be selling to BTC. But if you want to buy into ETH right after, it's better to buy it at a cheaper price, so you can afford more of a portion of ETH. That being said, you don't want to buy it cheaper if it's downtrending hard. "buy low, sell high"

This, but XRP dying would be way better than BTC. BTC only affects the financial aspects of trading, but XRP becoming dominant is just bad for cryptocurrency.

In 2018, if BTC decoupled (then it can go to 50K or wherever), we see the end of the niche sh*tcoin/"Announcementcoin", Ripple died or just stagnated and BCH/ETH/LTC market went up it would be a great achievement.

As it stands, I'm getting ******** ads for "Mobilink Coin" and various other sh*tcoins - that is not on brah.

Hypothetically, you would be 28x up - but you'd probably have sold before today so it is an exercise in futility ($0.007 -> $0.2).

i.e. Your portfolio is ~100k - you would have 2.8M if you went all in and somehow held up to now.

I wouldn't have sold actually, ffs - bought XMR instead. Stuck with the conservative option, so can't complain too much.

so lets use the right now as an exemple. ETH is at 760, BTC is at 14200 and XRP is at 1

If I have fiat and want to get some ripple because I think ripple will double. The best thing to do is buy from ETH then exchange that for some XRP?

In that case would it have been better to ETH at a higher price or lower price? Now lets say Ripple doubles and is now 2 usd. I want to get as much as my profit back. I should be exchanging it for ETH right? Would it be to my advance is ETH had increased or decreased ?
