If she just grabbed something last minute then it sucks.

If she put thought into it and came up with the idea that you needed it, like you're on your feet at work all day, then it's an awesome gift regardless of whether it'll get used.

My wife did this for my birthday. My favorite watch is a self winder. She got me a watch winder for my birthday. It takes nothing to wind the watch so it's not something id ever buy on my own, but she put thought into a gift that would be useful to me so I love it even if it was a swing and a miss.
