Racism can be both a symptom and a disease.

There's no problem if they all assimilate. The problem is if the whites want the US to be run one way, the blacks another way, the mexicans another way, and the asians another way. When you have political division by race those divisions bleed into other aspects of life and manifest as racism. ESPECIALLY when politicians stoke prejudices to turn a voting bloc to their candidacy.

All I know is that as western nations become more "diverse", they're becoming more and more divided. Cities and schools look as segregated as prisons, people living among their own in insulated communities. Groups blaming other groups for every perceived slight, real or imagined.

Everyone wants a piece of the victim pie, and its us vs them at every possible level at this point (racially, gender vs gender, religious division, economic division).

This is all under prosperous conditions. Imagine what it's going to be like when we start to see some actual scarcity. People will divide on the most primitive level. Its going to be scary.

In order for a multicultural society to work, people need to find common ground and unite under shared values. Currently were seeing the exact opposite. And it's getting exponentially worse every year.

The fact that Its “acceptable” to say White Privilege” tells you that there is an inherent bitterness for the past and that retribution is the only way to make them feel better.

As far as historical oppression or systemic bias or anything else,get over it. Take a look at the diaspora Jews: they came over here 70 years ago. Many of them had their entire families gassed in Auschwitz, didn't speak the language, didn't have skills or training, and most people hated them or were at very least were biased against them and their culture. Within10 years, the Jewish people had the highest GDP of any group in the US, including whites. Stop complaining about what happened to your grandfather's grandfather's grandfathers grandfather. You don't need quotas or affirmative action or diversity training. A healthy person will never move as quickly on crutches. Soget to work.

Because they are being discriminated against. All you have to do is look at the collection of Salon articles listed in the beginning of the thread.

However, the effect of that discrimination won't be nearly as powerful because so many of our institutions are made up of white people.

So black people and other minorities are right to be irritated - but not infuriated to the point where they accuse you of being a neo-nazi - when white people complain.

As for the selective nit-picking of history and the localization of "evil" to certain groups, that's just nonsense. The idea that only white europeans had slaves or oppressed other groups is so wrong and historically ignorant that there isn't much to say about it.

Every group on the planet has killed, raped, enslaved, oppressed, dominated, and discriminated.

However, the history of European colonalism and imperialism has dominated academia so kids are learning that it's only white people who do bad things. What they're not taught about is other atrocities committed by other groups like African tribes (Tulu and Huutu), the Japanese, the Mongols, the Turks, and many, many, many others.

History is incredibly sophisticated, far too sophisticated with too many variables to merely boil it down to "white priviledge," "racism and discrimination," and the "history of colonialism."

I know a couple of Iranians and two Vietnamese in that same situation, they're working at the same hospital I am as freakin' Technicians, when they were Doctors in their home country. They cleanly know their chit (some moreso than the actual practicing American physicians) but their biggest hurdle is the TOFEL, which even most Americans wouldn't pass. There's only a certain number of times you can take it (3 times, I believe, and you have to pass with an 80%) and if you fail all those times, then you have to wait 10 years to be able to take it again.

Because it was chinese enslaving other chinese. Their treatment when building the railroads was harsh, but they intentionally came here toworkwhich means they got paid (they weren't slaves). At worst some of them were under indentured servitude.

This argument falls flat because mexican black and asian girls are experiencing the same level of "cultural Marxism" as white girls. Its not their fault that for whatever reason white girls are more susceptible to it.

I live in New Mexico and work in an Emergency Room. There are mexican families that come in with 5 kids, the mom stays at home and the dad works a minimum wage job, If white people actually cared about their progeny as much as mexicans they'd be doing the same thing. Its not a form of oppression, white people just don't care. They'd rather be bachelors and bachelorettes banging randoms on a weekly basis instead of starting a family.

Totally dude. Funny enough working in tech I have RARELY seen a black woman in the workplace. I've seen some hispanic women but the ones in sales/hr/marketing/etc are mostly white women and I know if I brush up against one of them wrong I will get it in trouble. Kinda joking but kind of serious.

Part of the reason I don't ride for issues of white / third wave feminists is because it only caters to white females that want a bigger cut of white privilege in society.
