So bitcoin has a "segwit" option which just needs exchange and user adoption which would reduce fees

"Lightning Network" already coming back with successful testing which will speed up transactions.

"Schnorr" which will fix the problem where a wallet that has been filled by many small transactions will have an enormous transaction fee when they transfer out from it. You'll be able to condense multiple inputs. It also does some other good stuff like making the blocks more efficient.

"Bulletproofs" which will add privacy have already implemented a first version in the Bitcoin crypto library libsec256k1, which can verify proofs three and a half times faster than the verifier for the classic rangeproofs. It is a drop-in replacement for classic rangeproofs that does not affect other aspects of the system and is therefore very easy to integrate."

And smart contracts are being worked on for bitcoin as well.

I always see a bunch of posts of "[insert alt coin] is working on this and this, it will be huge down the road!" Just to balance it out a bit, BTC has hundred of people working on it (maybe thousands) since it's open source, working on adding all types of add ons from all angles. This is why I will always have BTC as part of my portfolio.

Well you have some people who are contributors who don't get paid. They just work on it because they want to and again because it's open source.

Then you have specific companies backing specific bitcoin projects like one company is backing LN, another is backing ZEN protocol on bitcoin.

Blockstream I think funds the main core developers.

Then there are the random sponsorship and fund raising programs as well.

That's why we trade alt coins in sats. I think just about everyone knows BTC is going to be (or already is) the "winner". Maybe it will be like gold and Ripple/others will be more accessible and acceptable forms of payment. But some other coin isn't going to take over BTC as the "gold standard" crypto.

Then there are all the other tokens that serve a specific purpose and will coexist with BTC.

I hope ZEN gets listed personally, but I hold some XRB too. I actually think a Binance listing might temporarily dump on XRB since it's been on quite a tear on a low volueme exchange. Though even if that happened i have no doubt it would recover and come back strong.

Yeah I'm voting for ZEN... although it feels hopeless already. The community just isn't big enough. Raiblocks is way bigger. Even DeepBrain could win if it becomes 4chan's new little meme coin.

Only hope is if some whale spends 50k to vote.

It's already going on 2 new asian exchanges (TBA), so it's all good I guess. But Binance could bring some much needed volume.

You realize Wraith is basically trash right? As an actual privacy coin Verge is terrible. They've said Wraith is coming out since November. And all it is is routing through TOR network when governments control tons of TOR nodes already. The logo was made with MS Paint m8. They paid McAfee to shill it and raise the price a bunch and now noobs who think XRP is god's gift to man think it's also the next big thing. It's a pump and dump coin. I made money off it but let's not pretend it's actually good. It might spike a bit after Wraith is released then it will immediately dump. If you're gonna hold it at least set a reasonable sell order.
