For me, my only transaction with Coinbase is when I bought ETH. I haven't cashed out since I started early 2017 so how do I compute for my realized gains? Everything is just speculative amount for me. And my whole portfolio are in Bittrex and HitBTC. How can Coinbase compute my tax if all they have in their record is me buying some ETH and sending it to an exchange?
This pretty much describes me as well

Really confusing lol. Coinbase purchase is only about 30% of my total investment. The rest came from mining ETH.
For the ETH I mined and sent to Bittrex and HitBTC, how are IRS going to trace that it's my coins? The only thing you need to register on those exchanges are email address.

That's why I'm wondering why dp we need to declare those trades outside of Coinbase when most of the coins cannot be traced back to me yet unless I cashout.

This is what I always say. But several miscers always say each trade is taxable when you dont even realize the gains yet unless you move it to fiat.

Still remember my thread regarding hashgraph / DAG?
https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/ha...kchain.995168/

Look what happened to Raiblocks few weeks after that.

There's few DAG project that I keep watching. And ready to pump once it get release.
And of course, we already got few DAG project currently on running such as RaiBlocks, IOTA, Byteball, H.cash, etc

But the price is already expensive... more & new DAG project will exits soon...such as Radix (not launch yet), Stone (still planning), and few more.

Keep watching guys.

This is the new era after blockchain. Since people are tired with slow transaction and higher fees from blockchain.
We need a new solution. And the solution is DAG.
Little more for you guys which was just posted 18 minutes ago, Got to spread the love to my misc brahs
Today I want to share about my new investment idea aka the next big thing coin.

I used to share about this DAG technologies via:
https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/ha...kchain.995168/

And DAG is refer to:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Directed_acyclic_graph

It is quite complex to describe, but DAG technology is quite different compared to blockchain technology.

The advantages of using DAG technology is that it can solve the major problems faced by the blockchain technology such as:

1. Transaction speed.
2. Fees.
3. Scalability.

Majority of the DAG project have fastest speed of transaction per second (TPS). Starting from 1,000 up to 100,000 TPS. Compare to Bitcoin, that can only do 7 TPS. This is why Bitcoin is so slow. And not suitable for our daily life currency.

Trust me DAG coin is the "next big thing" after blockchain technology.

There are some coin / projects that already exist by using this DAG technology.

1. IOTA
2. Raiblocks
3. Byteball
4. Aidos
5. Dagcoin
6. Daglabs
7. Oyster
8. Paragoncoin
9. H.cash
10. Stone
11. Rchain
12. IOTChain

But all of this project are still new, there are many risks and disadvantages (bugs).

For moment, I followed one project called "Stone". Stone is a fork of Raiblocks but with extra flavor called zkSNARKs (Zcash adaptation for better privacy).

Will STONE be successful? I don't know, it could be a scam (90% sure it's a scam, too bad). Because after looking at the thread, the OP already received $100K+ donation from the investor. Even the OP dint have a single working product or code to show!

For now let keep an eye for this DAG technology. I believe more project and coin gonna exits.
And more opportunity to make money will appear.

P / S I used to share info about this DAG / Railblocks technology, and at the time the price of Raiblocks is $2.00+. Few weeks then the price was almost $30! I believe the majority of investors are already aware of this DAG technology. Do I own Raiblocks? Nope. I see many new investor complain about Raiblocks that can't even do 7 TPS due some issue. This technology is still new. Let's wait for a new good DAG project to appear. And you can start throwing money on it.

Honestly with a lot of the privacy coins there's no real way to verify anything unless they get the exchange to provide them with your trades.

That being said if you get on that mansion time and want to keep it. Better pay up. Uncle Sam always collects. I personally don't want to be looking over my shoulder if I make it.

And it's whatever profit/loss you had per transaction at the time of transactions. I'm learning this too but this is how I understand it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Ex - Fifo

Oct 10 - buy 100 btc at $5.00 per coin ($500 total)
Oct 20 - buy 30 btc at $10 per coin ($300 total)
Oct 20 - exchange 80 btc at $10 for 160 eth at $5 per eth ($800)

You would owe 80($10-$5)*tax rate for btc doubling at the time of the eth transaction

Oct 30: sell 50 btc at $8

Here you owe for the profit made on the remaining 20 btc from oct 10th. 20(8-5)*rate. And get a credit report a loss for the 30 from the 20th. 30(8-10)*rate

Dec 20th - sell 160 eth for 16000 - $100 per eth.

You owe 160(100-5)*rate

Hope I didn't **** that up and hope it helps.

No bro you didn't mess it up. I got how the principle is but for sure, an average bro here will have about 300-500 trade transactions for the whole 2017 and some could have more.
