When you're doing a 3 month stint, how long are your days and how many on/off?
These guys should be making well over 1k per day. Job is nuts.

Interesting af op.
I always get really nervous when deep under water because of stuff like this.
Scary stuff. It seems most deaths are from ill prepared dives and no safety checks.

No thanks, you can make good enough money up here in the oil sands as a welder with basically zero risk

Every single kid who’s ever taken welding in school or new welder at my work, every single one of those kunts is going to be an underwater welder. Every single weld tradie says this chit. Just like every welder is going to the pipeline. Us tradies all think we’re the exception but lol when you realize what’s required and the risks of actually doing this. Welding blows so hard and if you don’t wear a respirator your entire shift you’re fuked. TradeLife

I met a guy through a mutual friend years ago who did this...worked under water for 10 fukkin years from age 21 to 31. Zero expenses, banked everything. Retired on his 31st birthday, went to the first strip bar on shore, grabbed the hottest bish there and said "we're going to Thailand for a month"
The ended up staying there for a year living in a resort. Moved back to Whit Rock BC, bought a beautiful house (paid cash) and are still happily married to this day with 2 kids (I met him 22 years ago when their kids were 5 and 7). Crazy fukkin story but true.

My bro is a under water welder. Mostly works on oil rigs with only dudes for months at a time.
He loves it!
Anyone in here used a hydro chainsaw under water? Didn’t think so.

You can tell she is still totally into this dude and has nothing but respect for him. You get the feeling that to her, every other man is a bish compared to him.
He took a gamble, and scored.

Seems like a seriously low paying job. Commercial diving academy says the top 10% make $90k per year.

Been there, done that. Used a chainsaw plenty as well as a underwater burning/cutting/welding torch, etc. Got the crappy looking old tattoos to prove it.
