I only pay 1200, but I think there's only a couple apartments in my city that cost above 1400. Coworker of mine pays 1600 for a 3bd/3ba 1800 sqft loft style with a balcony though about 50 feet from a university campus. Making a decent salary in the southeast is pretty nice.

1400 here in the chicago area wont get you very much in housing. U can get an apartment in the burbs but a low end one.

lol East LA crew huh? Yea that **** is gonno get gentrified no matter what you personally do. Too much money pouring into LA and there is no where to go but east. I'm an EE and have worked on many development projects. The consulting firm I'm with now does 3/4 gov't work so much less dealing with developers. Do quite a bit of work for UCLA actually.

I work crazy hours to avoid traffic and don't mind the drive tbh. The drive is how I disconnect from work and there's nothing better than taking the scenic route home in a car you love.
I own a house in East LA that my parents are living in atm. Enjoying the money coming into the neighborhoods and increasing property values but can't help but feel for my people. I honestly miss the fking taco stands more than anything.

Late to this thread, but I pay $1,395 in rent which includes water. Power bill is $100-$150 per month, TV and internet are another $100+ or something like that.

tbh that's not really that much if you have a career, brb between my wife and I we take home about $7,250/mo. so $1,500 on rent and utilities ain't ****.

FYI I'm a test engineer, and my wife is a NICU Nurse. Bout 75K and 65K before taxes, respectively.
