Maybe it's the lobster I've had, but it's always been bland unless you drown it in garlic butter beforehand. I don't think lobsters have the sensory sophistication to feel pain in the same sense as we do, but is there any reason to cook them alive? There are places in Japan where you eat live octopuses.
