Pay the CC off with the cash. Start saving real money and investing. Having 40k in cash is worthless if you have 40k in debt.

Did you get divorced or something? Your economic situation normally ought to improve with time, barring sudden events like being laid off, divorced, etc.

I think what is essentially saying is you need to be thankful for what you have and recognize that you are in a better position than a good percentage of your peers.

Is that what you’re saying Garth or did I just make that up?

I would say yes. At 31 it seems he is doing well. Half the debt of most his age, double the salary of most his age. As far as single, that’s a choice for the most part

How are you doing? I remember a while back you were having second thoughts about being married for a quick minute there. Did you manage to work through them and all is good on the home front now?

Well, I still have thoughts from time to time, but all is good these days. I told myself to be grateful for what I have, the grass most likely isn’t much greener on the other side.

That being said...

My nipples are freezing off.... I'd show you, but they gone baby. Tis 8° and I need gloves. I'm woefully unprepared. Lol. I legit jacked my dad's insulated work gloves when I saw him last. I should get my own gloves....but that costs money. For the good ones at least. 20 for some solid isotoners. Hnnnnngh. I love those gloves.

Whatcha doing where you travel that much? I used to be in regional recruiting and that was my life. Wondering if they still did nonsense like that.

However, I was going through the same thing with my marriage and finally pulled the trigger. Bothered me for years tho. Best decision I ever made.

Essentially. Nearly a 6 figure salary, in the midwest. That much cash in the bank is pretty good. The misc overplays financial status a lot but dude is doing pretty good. Everyone has debt. Sure it may be high but it's obviously not crippling. And again, it's all relative.
