I don't really see what is wrong with having pictures of ourselves? I just wouldn't want my crappy, blurry progress photos in my profile to have my face visible on them.

But I don't quite understand why it is ok to have photos on something public like instagram but have to be super careful here. I'm new though ^_^'

People tend to say things on here and act a certain way that they might not be proud of IRL. So in most cases, they'd rather stay anonymous. On Instagram or ******** or whatever you know your family and friends are going to see the stuff you post, so you tend to tone it down a little.
