He offered to replace no problem, I didn't ask about the money but judging by his personality and my talks with him I'm sure he'd do it.

This girl below I adopted her when she was well over 4 years old in need of a new home..she is almost 7 now and she is still healthy and active as ever.

Cute! I'm all about giving animals good homes, especially some that could be overlooked.

The Baby was going for $65, and the adult $100 I think..... if he's willing to discount the adult a little for the troubles I'll probably take him home. I really am not comfortable taking the baby with the events that happened with his siblings.

Will report back to you guys tomorrow and let you know what happens. As always, thanks for the input.

So I went a different route last night. I asked for a refund for the baby that died. Got it no problem. We stopped by another local reptile shop which is much more sophisticated and professional. We ended up getting an 8 month year old beardy. Definitely in great health. He is very alert, and absolutely mauled the crickets we gave him last night. My daughter named him "Heart". I need to upgrade his habitat though, as the 30 will have to do for a couple days. I am going to make him a new habitat Thursday night out of a dresser. It will be 36" long x 24" high and fairly deep. Will depend on the cabinet I use.

Here is my plan:

Cut large square out of the top to insert a screen similar to the top of an aquarium. Create a framed door on the front out of plexiglass/wood trim that will open and close for easy access for feeding/taking out to handle. Mostly so my daughter can reach and start giving him his veggies/fruits. Will use tan linoleum tile on the floor, and add branches, hammock, hide ect. for him. I want to give him decent climbing room. I will do some kind of controlled environment feeding, such as maybe using the old 30 gallon and storing it under his new habitat. This way I don't have to worry about bugs getting through cracks, and I can make sure he's eating them all.

Honestly, part of this may be my fault because when I picked him out I notice 2/3 babies seemed pretty lethargic. It was early morning and their UV bulbs had only been on a little bit so I though maybe they were just tired. I should have trusted my instinct on this one. He never really perked up from Saturday - Monday. Last night around 4pm I got home and put a couple crickets in to see what he did, and he just laid there eyes closed..... The guy who sold him expressed his sincere apologies and was quick to say come back to the shop and he will make it right. Based on my interactions with this guy, and the fact that all his reptiles looked very well cared for and happy I do not believe he is a scammer.....just an unfortunate situation.

He has one more baby from the same litter.....this one did look more perky/fatter/healthier (my daughter picked the one we got, my fault again) He also had an adult dragon. Would it be smarter for me to go with the adult since care/feeding is a little easier and he's already set in a routine. I'm not an expert reptile person by any stretch, so I worry with a juvenile I could mess up somehow in their most important growth years. What do you guys think? I have a bigger habitat available for the adult if I get him, so no worries there.

My main concern is making sure I didn't make a mistake............

Here is a list of my habitat setup for him, to see if I fuked up somewhere:

-10 gallon tank for now (beardy was only about 2.5-3")
-Using a Mega ray UVB/UVA/Heat bulb @ 70W
-branch setup for him to climb for basking.
-water dish big enough for him to soak
-food dish with salad mix
-paper towel substrate
-Internal temp was 100 F ( used one of those stick on dial thermometers, let me know if I should get a different one)

Like I mentioned before, the beardy looked tired from the get go when I got home so it's not like he was chipper the first day, then gradually slowed down which makes me think something was pre-existing.

i worked at petco for nearly 7 years. Sometimes you just get a bad beardie (srs) dont be discouraged though.

I think I might have jinxed myself because now my leopard won't eathe was eating last week and just wouldn't last night. I forget how long they are supposed to live but he is just about to turn 14 years old.

When I picked her up from a show she was pretty docile but by the time I got her home she was super pissed. She would strike anytime somebody walked by the tank. One day I just let her bite me like ten times in a row and I think she got the message and hasn't bit me since. She would **** every time I would pick her up after that but stopped doing that too eventually. She's agressive in the cage until I give her a light poke with the snake hook then she's ok. I wouldn't go waving my hand in her face but she's pretty relaxed in my hands.

I remember way back when I asked you on a suggestion for housing for her. Can't remember what you said. Getting sick of the heavy ass tank she's in right now it's a pain to clean. She's about 5-6ft long if that helps.
