Before you parrot studies, you need to understand research design first
No chit that is insane. you make the fatal assumption that I'm against you, i'm on neither side purely searching for truth. watch the end of the video in OP and google his collaborators studies / download a PDF of his book and see the studies cited, I've done neither but if you feel like this guy is bull chit, a simple search of his collaborators will discredit him instantaneously.

where have i parroted studies? my original point is you claim all their studies are weak provide the weak studies, yet you still politic around the basic question. I don't parrot any studies my physics teacher back when i was 15/16 showed me how bull chit most studies are and in order to vet them you have to see for yourself, this teacher has a Ph.D in computational physics so has obviously achieved high in academia and also knows studies are bull chit.

I remember being an arrogant young gym dude believing in studies and discrediting the experience of old strongmen that tried to teach me chit in the gym all because they used terms such as muscle confusion. Little did i know they were speaking about concurrent periodization.

i think we are saying the same thing and talkin passed eachother. im saying eat sugar in such a way that fits in with a healthy lifestyle, and definitely in moderation. the op guy is saying sugar will literally kill you. i mean yea if you eat so much you are fat, then yes.

more generally i believe food will kill u if you are a fat ass. processed meat will kill you if you are a fatass. regular meat, eggs, poptarts, even fruit (if it were feasible to eat enough) will kill you if you are already fukking fat.

All i know is that I've cut out sugar and went to a fully clean diet and have never felt better, whereas I had been extremely sick for the last 3 months due to my garbage eating habits (Which included copious amounts of sugar, fat, and fried foods). At some point people have to make a decision whether they want to eat a certain way or not; however, the repercussions are dire if you choose to live an unhealthy life.

Yeah but where we differ is you take the whole immunization approach from being in shape and lifting, but I feel life is purely just risk factors and risk management. There is no immunization to anything merely just managing your risk factors and deciding on your individual principles on what risks are worth it to you.

Being a fatty does increase your overall risk factors but I don't feel that being skinny makes you immune to bad living.

Hope we don't self destruct or overshoot our carrying capacity before the implementation of widespread individualized nutrition and medicine.

Didn't feel like watching 90+ minute video.

A few things seem to stand up re:health:

- inflammation > bad
- move your body regularly
- eat plants/produce

There is a good amount of variety in diets of different groups. There are healthy populations that eat high carb and some that eat high fat. A lot of people don't digest dairy well.

I can't think of any that are known to thrive on a high sugar diet. Such a thing wasn't even really possible for most of our existence as a species. There was honey, fruit in season, and in some places dairy. For a long time granulated sugar and molasses were luxury items used sparingly.

Moderating sugar intake > reasonable.

Eliminating all sugar intake > unnecessary for most of us.

Textbook first-world problem here. A lot of you people have no serious threats or issues in your life, so your mind has to create one. Were not even talking about cigarettes or drugs here, but dietary sugar smh. Sugar is perfectly fine at moderate intake levels for most people. And I don't know if this is news, but we are all heading towards death each day.

Most of that is only true in the context of a sedentary person eating excess calories, especially on top of a nutritionally inadequate diet. That can be easy to do when eating palatable, calorie-dense things.

But like my fellow INTP ITT mentioned, if you are active and eat plenty of vegetables, protein, etc., some added sugar is totally fine. Most nutritionists recommend below 10% of daily calories from added sugar, which, if you have a high TDEE from sports, is actually a LOT. I mean, say you need 3,000 or 4,000 calories a day. That means you could eat 75 or 100 grams of pure sugar and be fine.

Basically, you guys (the already-fit) are not the target audience for this documentary.

Refined sugar and flour is like *******, the coca plant in its original form is harmless, you can drink coca tea all day long and be fine, refine it, you obtain a substance that is very harmful. We eat refined foods, over time, damage occurs, inflammation ensues. Bad cholesterol should be in the 70s for healthy people, if it is any higher, your body is fighting arterial inflammation, cut out the refined garbage, the numbers drop significantly.

As for sugar, all carbs are broken down in the stomach into sugars including starchy carbs. So we aren't actually talking about sugar, we are talking about over-eating and malnutrition. People who eat heavily processed diets aren't unhealthy due to the sugar content, they are unhealthy because they usually over-eat and because a highly processed diet does not have any margin left for the nutrients needed in a diet.

However if you eat the odd processed food in an otherwise balanced diet, without any overconsumption of calories, then the sugar will have no NO adverse health effects.

Don't see why I should be TOO concerned with eating sugar when i stay very lean and have good teeth that I maintain.

Used to do keto/low carb, it's trash if you already have a fast metabolism I quickly found out.

Not to say things cant go wrong when you're in shape but all ailments are intensified when you have extra body fat.

The amount of stupidity ITT is mindblowing.

Look at how far people will go to defend their sugar consumption.

You're really gonna tell me eating sugar isn't bad for you if you're in shape?

Yes, smoking isn't bad for you either if you go running every other day

****ing nonsense.

Because it modifies your body's leptin signaling.

Calorie in/calorie out copers are the dumbest.

It's well known by now that refined sugar leaches minerals out of your body in order to be processed.

The good part about fruit is that it has fiber and nutrients to help your body break it down.

But even still, eat too much fruit and you're gonna be in for a rude awakening.

BRB hurr durr calories in vs. calories out, OK I'll eat 2000 calories of unprocessed foods, you eat 2000 calories of table sugar and report back to me after 10 years if you're even still alive.

I mean it really does boil down to calories in vs. calories out right?

It's well known by now that refined sugar leaches minerals out of your body in order to be processed.

The good part about fruit is that it has fiber and nutrients to help your body break it down.

BRB hurr durr calories in vs. calories out, OK I'll eat 2000 calories of unprocessed foods, you eat 2000 calories of table sugar and report back to me after 10 years if you're even still alive.

I mean it really does boil down to calories in vs. calories out right?
I'm sure most calories in vs out peddlers are more logical than that, lol
