Your first video game console and game that truly made you say to yourself, Graphics

Are truly at the next generation level..

Yoiu had 8 bit consoles Sega master system and then 16 bit Sega genesis and SNES not a huge leap.

Psx and n64 made considerable improvements with polygon use and real third world environments but it was not till the Sega Dreamcast and I seen soul Calibur sand nfl2k that made me say to my self wow next gen has finally arrived

What was your first experience with this thought?

For me it's the PS1. Going from the cartoony super nes and sega to at least somewhat realistic graphics with PS1 was a huge leap

Used to play espn extreme games and twisted metal on the ps1 around when it first came out

Goldeneye 007. I was still playing 2D games on SNES when it first came out, so when I played it for the first time, my mind was blown.

Yep, if you had the ram expansion pack for n64 and games like turok 2 and rogue squadron it really enhanced the graphics big time

N64, I remember Turok 2 being very impressive for the time. Really was hard to play without the expansion pak though, slowed down a lot.

None of the old consoles ever made me think graphics etc tbh.. Every new console was an improvement but only now on ps4 are some of the games amazing.

Will possibly feel the same when the next best thing comes out.

As for game, gran turismo.

Going from Pokémon red ----> N64 stadium was badass

Starcraft2 also blew my mind at its highest graphics.

Not graphics related but I recently played virtual reality for the first time and that was the biggest mind fuk of all. I had the strongest simulator sickness after.

Super Mario 64 was pretty groundbreaking...
I also thought Halo was pretty incredible...

Also, even though these were PC games, Oblivion and Far Cry. I would say that ES Oblivion really blew me away technically. Also, the original Far Cry was a huge leap forward in game graphics.

And of course, Unreal Tournament has always redefined graphics with each iteration of their engine.

For those of you that played ocarina of time did you ever ride epona around hyrule just to marvel at the landscape?

I'd do the same thing in grand theft auto vice city just driving around in the car listening to the music

Hard to beat Golden Eye. It was the graphics, but also how the graphics were used along with the gameplay that really just blew my mind to pieces.

Deus Ex had a similar affect a few years later.
