Worst part about these jackets is that the fur is real coyote. Would feel like a tard if i had dead dog around my neck.

It's Canada Douche
The "lower end" jackets use duck down which is ****.
Seems the Asian population buy them as a status symbol by my area.
Yesterday it was mixed precipitation in the morning, arrived on the subway platform only to see some young Chinese dude dabbing his girl's Canada Goose jacket dry. Good laugh at 5 am.
Caught her looking at the Arc'teryx logo on my shell.

If I am spending $900 on a jacket it will be something from Feathered Friends.
Best goose down is traced to Eastern Europe too.

Bought one of those 3 years ago. Legit chit jacket, doesn't even keep you warm unless you wear a million layers and have your hood zipped up. Literally no difference than a regular jacket.

Would rather have one of these any day for 1/3rd of the price srs.

lot of people dont mention Woolrich....american brand that makes jackets much better and cheaper than canada goose.

the arctic parka has protected me very well in nyc blizzards.

helly hansen and marmot are also great brands.
heard good things about marmot zeus and marmot avant.

i used to wear woolen peacoats but these technical down jackets are so much better.

I got the chiliwack bomber and like it a lot. They are pretty uncommon in the UK tbh. Every fukker in NY has one, even young kids - which i dont get how they can afford (like 12-15 year olds)

they are the GOAT ski jacket though.

wont wear it in london though beacuse of all the broke vegan hipster animal rights people who went through a phaase of throwing paint on people who wear them

10 F this morning here in Boston, out walking the dog for a half hour. Was in a t shirt and my Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer jacket (thing weighs 7 ounces) and I was warm.
Canada Goose and Nobis are fashion jackets. They are not intended for really bitter cold weather and their construction shows it. Learn what baffles are and what fill power means if you are looking for a long lasting incredibly warm jacket/parka.

So I'm from Toronto and I daresay nowhere does anyone wear CG more than in my city. Yeah, it gets cold, but I don't wear it for everyday wear, I wear my H&M wool jacket and layer up. I wear my Canada Goose exclusively for when I work as a bouncer (stand outside for 4 hrs straight). Other than that, I personally think people can toughen up a bit and learn to tolerate the cold because they're not standing outside for more than 15 mins for the most part. It's definitely a status thing here. The worst is when people wear it when it's like 5C degrees, which to me is like t-shirt weather. That's when you know they spent all their money on a CG and find any excuse to wear it.

Though I don't need to nor plan on it any time soon, but if I were to buy a jacket now, it'd be vegan friendly, just cause I care about that kinda stuff more now and I care less about 'status' in my older age.
Cmon man, you're telling people to toughen up and accept the cold when they can wear a proven warm jacket? Fk what other people think, if I wanna wear my goose, I'm gonna do it.

get some Patagonia Capilenes for base layer (pricey but great) then maybe something fleece (softshell) with a Windstopper membrane in it. Look at the usual suspects like Arc, MArmot, Outdoor Reseach, MH, Patagonia.

I spend a lot of time in the high arctic professionally, and we have crews that work up there through the winter.

CG are warm-enough for casual use when stacked up next to other department store jackets. Literally nobody wears them once you get far north. Maybe the Chinese tourists up here to bang under the Northern Lights but that's about it.
