If a coin goes from $1 to $5 that’s a 500% increase so you have to multiple your initial investment by 500x so if you invest 1000 then you bought 1000 coins and then multiply it by 500 and profit is 500k

I have a weird story for you guys.

So I quit my job of 2 years the first week of January. One of my co-workers that sat next to me was a fellow crypto brah. He was always telling me about his buddy that got in on bitcoin early early early and is now a millionaire. My buddy said his friend was helping him get into mining and what not.

So I was over at my former co-workers place this past weekend and his buddy he always talked about was there.

So I started up a conversation about cryptos with this guy. He says he bought up 8400 bitcoin for 50$ and that now he has a mining farm in Washington that consists of 1.6 million GPU's in 6 floors of a high rise building with 5 other farmers all sharing the space. He showed me pictures of his miners and his ongoing projects. I'm pretty impressed with all this.

So in the conversation he starts telling me how "everybody in the know/crypto whales" are preparing for the complete collapse of all cryptos including bitcoin. I ask him why and how this is going to happen. This is where I start to smell a bullchit artist. He claims that all the governments of the world are going to announce a singular global cryptocurrency that can be used anywhere on the planet and that it will replace the fiat of all countries, and that this is going to happen within 15 months. I press him on the logistics of how this is even possible and he can't answer my questions. I used to study economics and business and have a little knowledge of how markets work and he can't answer my questions. You can't get all the countries of the world to agree to ANYTHING let alone completely upending their economic systems overnight.

I stop pressing him with the questions because it's clear he can't answer them. He just swears this is going to happen.

Some other notes:
-he claims current crypto holdings valued at 70 billion dollars (yet i nor anyone else itt would have ever heard of him despite being one of the wealthiest men in the world? LOL???)
-didnt take a car to my friends place, he had a $5,000 mountain bike that he says was given to him for free for helping them out with crypto
-claims to be working on several ICOs including a goldman sachs ICO
-not wearing particularly nice clothing, just sort of 'mountain biker' clothing including leggings

-met a friend of a friend, that my friend claimed was a crypto millionaire
-guy claims net worth of 70 billion $
-shows me multiple pictures of his mining farm in washington

99% chance he's a fraud and bullchit artist but he had loads of evidence backing up his wealth claims but I never actually saw any of his holdings/wallet or anything like that

not saying I believe the guy just put this story out there. This conversation did happen. These are the claims he made. I did see some evidence to support his claims. If he's not a liar (small chance) more than likely he didn't buy 1.6 million gpus all at once but rather acquired them over time.

I think most people ITT are already aware of this. Do some research starting with that 1988 edition of The Economist suggesting one world currency in 30 years. I'm not convinced bitcoin is that, nor are the cryptos that we know about. I think it'll be hard to execute given the coming emergence of the petro yuan.

Part of me thinks the implementation will be in the backing. That is, we'll still use our dollars, pounds, Euros, etc but the backbone will be something else and we won't know unless we're really paying attention.
