Trump was a moron for tying his presidency to the stock market rally and taking credit for the gigantic bubble. It's coming back to bite him now and the republicans and Trump will get the blame when the real economy starts to crater.

Trump made the market a talking point so that when it recovers from an inevitable crash (which will probably be very quickly under his presidency), he can tout it as another victory and mention how he recovered the economy faster than Obama. The left who are running to blame him for these market dips will have to give him credit when the market recovers and stabilizes, but they won't

Apparently 81% of the market is owned by 10% of the people. So these traumatic moves are really not impacting the majority of the country all that much.
Oh, and DOW futures have come back some. The market's looking to start lower but not at event levels. Now I wouldn't be surprised to see the market up by the end of the day. Beware the dead cat bounce though.

It effects every 401k and pension fund. Do you know how many people that is? Doesn't matter if they have 200K or 200 million in their fund, it's a lot of money to them.

I guess Trump could’ve waited until it popped to pass the tax cuts to help businesses and people to make it look like he’s solving the problem, but it’s probably better to already have these measures in place to be proactive. Now businesses and people may be better prepared to absorb some of the correction as it happens. I expected this to be a big year for American business and still do, but it looks like some of that will be offset by the fact that we have to absorb this correction. Still, this is probably the best year to do it, and if it’s handled correctly we should get through alright and come out the other side looking pretty good relatively speaking. Still a lot of potential outcomes though so we’ll just have to see how it goes.K goodluck with that theory when people are losing thousands and thousands of dollars.

What do you know, stocks don't always go straight up? The last 10 years of bull run is a bit of an anomaly, and has only happened once before in history (I believe). Just a little realty to remind people there is a risk premium associated with equity returns. Expect more volatility as we enter a different phase of slowly rising rates and expansion under Trump.

Looks like another day of craziness is upon us. With the lack of leadership from the white house, the markets and retail investors will have to calm themselves down.
There was yelling and screaming on the floor of the NYSE yesterday. The panic is starting to set in.

Taking the day off
Sitting here with 4 screens. 2 terminal, and 2 mechanical keyboards.
This 1%’s a$$ bout to bank now
Naked puts, leaps, calls, puts, covered calls, long term positions what’ll it be?
For the novice and non market savvy kids read post 30 ITT and stick with that.
For the ones trying to play today understand this is high risk speculating and only should be done with discretionary money.
For those doing so volatility is your friend and big swings is your dream, whichever way.
For days like this I’ll give these tips:
-don’t buy on margin today no matter the temptation
-You are figating against a microsecond trading computers floating between bid and ask, you can’t win that, you aren’t fast enough, so don’t follow their pattern or you have to go against the grain to win.
-Channeling is fine but be prepared to cut your losses
-If you aren’t using discretionary money just stop
For those considering their IRA contributions today- read Post 30, or  might as well it’s all long anyway.

I don’t blame anyone for pulling out if they’re not comfortable, like I posted early I was out mid late December for the most part.
The bulk of my portfolio is in private business stock, not publicly traded so I’m naturally limited to exposure anyway, and can’t push button buy/sell that.
