They made an all-black excellence movie (depicting black wealth, high class, royalty) 34 years ago because the leading role was played by a black actor who was a superstar at the time. This happened 34 years ago.
That is the point. There is nothing "special" about this Black Panther movie coming out in 2018. Instead you are supposed to suspend logic and lose your mind as if they just let blacks into major Hollywood movies yesterday. What? You realize that they offered the role of Neo in The Matrix to Will Smith; had he accepted both Neo and Morpheus would have been black, on top of all the other predominantly black characters in the movie (The Oracle, the two guys on Neo's ship, the Commander in Zion who is on Morpheus' balls, Jada Pinkett Smith's character as the boss of the other ship, etc, etc). Ironically, all of the "villains" in that film would have been stereotypical white guys (Smith, The Agents, the guy who turns in the first movie, The Architect, The Merovingian). The Matrix came out in 1999.

I’ve learned to never take critic reviews to heart, because I’ve seen some movies that were rated very poorly on RT that I loved, and some that were rated very high that were steaming piles of chit.
That being said, I don’t like superhero movies, so I don’t care either way.

Nathanial Lees is literally the guy I said I WASN'T referring to. He's the Samoan guy in charge of the Mech unit. Completely different character.

-a charicature stereotype of doing drugs and bangin' hoes "in the hood" (The Friday movies/The House Party movies)
-Not a boring cringy bible thumpy educational movie with a wholesome lesson (The Madea movies)
-Not a documentary movie about Rosa Parks or Malcom X or MLK or slavery for the umpteenth time (Roots/12 years a slave/ etc)
-Nor is it a movie that has black people in it and the whole narrative of the characters existence is due to the fact that they're black (Get Out)
Its just an action adventure movie that "happens" to have a dominant black male cast.

Wouldn't the logic of your argument dictate that this is "A typical movie with a hip hop soundtrack where black people are violent"?
Wouldn't it take a movie with the premise being "NASA is run by an all male black cast and they forge a mission to an alien planet to help man kind survive an extinction event and peacefully make contact with an alien race that gives them a planet" to really break the mold?
This whole argument is so ridiculous to me

I'm still failing to miss what sort of 'social commentary' this movie is supposed to have other than speculation.
T'Challa's father got killed in Civil War. T'Challa has to go back and restore order to his land after the king was killed. People are now discovering how rich and technologically advanced Wakanda is and he has to protect the interest of Wakanda which sometimes comes in conflict with the U.S. i.e. creating a safe haven for Cap, Bucky, Falcon, and Black Widow.
Also we don't know where the last Infinity Stone is and why half of The Avengers are fighting in Wakanda during Infinity War.
Let's just enjoy the movie. STFU.

So....how many black people are writing comic books? seriusly, why would you expect white people to write comics based in africa?

Get out shouldnt have even been an example of a black movie, it should be an example of a white movie where: white characters are extremely racist towards black people
