Took your advice and I found a guy selling a 40 gallon breeder that comes with desert background, large basking tree branch, insect keeper, temp gauges, overhead lights(which I have already) food/water dishes for $80.

When I picked her up from a show she was pretty docile but by the time I got her home she was super pissed. She would strike anytime somebody walked by the tank. One day I just let her bite me like ten times in a row and I think she got the message and hasn't bit me since. She would **** every time I would pick her up after that but stopped doing that too eventually. She's agressive in the cage until I give her a light poke with the snake hook then she's ok. I wouldn't go waving my hand in her face but she's pretty relaxed in my hands.

I remember way back when I asked you on a suggestion for housing for her. Can't remember what you said. Getting sick of the heavy ass tank she's in right now it's a pain to clean. She's about 5-6ft long if that helps.

lol they can be *******s sometimes, but I love the personality.

What do you have her in now?

I was thinking of getting one of these animal plastics pvc cages. They have one specially designed for carpets apparently but idk if I want that size. Its 36x24x15 tall. I was thinking about getting a 48x24x12 instead. I know it'll be shorter in height but I don't really think they need to climb, just will if they can.

Little late posting, but here is our buddies new habitat I got. I got everything pictured for $80. I added the sand style linoleum tile.



He's doing good so far. Been eating mostly crickets and ***** roaches mixed with some superworms. Keeping my eye on his bowls to make sure the superworms are digesting ok. So far no issues. He loves his lettuce and veggies.

Working on getting him used to being handled. He's still kinda skiddish, but he's getting better. He will let me and my daughter pet his head when I hold him. I can tell he gets anxious however.

Yes, when they're younger they need more calcium, but you don't want to do too much D3. So alternating them is best. Especially if you're using a UVB bulb as it is (which I'm assuming you do). Yeah you can OD on D3, but calcium daily is good.

So it'd be calcium with D3, then calcium without D3, alternate every other day.




Does anyone know anything about discoid roaches? My local reptile shops started carrying discoid roaches...not dubia because my suck ass state bans those

Blue tongues are like beardeds only...well, they get bigger, they're live reptile puppy dogs imo. They're demeanor is close to a bearded. But their diet gets easier. They do eat insects, but they need fruit, meat and vegetables too.

Mine I feed 2-4x weekly. His basic meal consists of a mix of: Beef dog food, egg with the shell crushed up, berries, banana and greens, and sometimes I add in a treat of canned snail or raw chicken liver!

He's awesome! I hear they are probably the most "pet like" reptile you can have. They like being pet and being with humans.

What are the tank size/lighting requirements for them?
