why does it seem like most religious threads on here end up arguing about morals? Moralsdon't exhaustreligion, they are just a necessary beginning on the spiritual path.

When Moses talked to God Moses was like hey what should I call you and God replied call me (I am who I am)

And remember the bible also says God is everything and everyone, like someone already translated to "nature"

It is not lacking to be guided by your own moral centre.
Great so you get a lot of your morals from religion. You just avoid the God part and the parts that require things from you (ie commandments).

16 However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. 17 Completely destroy[a] them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the Lord your God has commanded you. 18 Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods, and you will sin against the Lord your God.

People accuse the Quran of establishing general principles of violence towards certain groups, whereas the Bible uses allegory or requires context. I'm not particularly sure about the Quran (haven't read it). Many instances of violence in the Bible to seem to be set in war, which means context is needed. As opposed to an explicit law to murder blasphemers, for example.

If such directives exist in the Bible, plz quote the passage.

People used to revere and worship Mother Earth

Personally it is enough to be in awe of nature, arts, science etc one doesn’t imho need to turn it into an externalised deity

Just cos the bible commands one not to murder or steal doesn’t mean it owns the convent of not being a murderer or thief

I will grant you that religious based morals are harder to change, but it still happens. Some religions change more readily than others. Which I would argue isn't necessarily a bad thing. If they didn't I would hate Christianity as much as I hate Islam.
Yes, I think those who try and avoid the God of the Old Testament who is the same God of the New Testament are making a mistake. It may be difficult but possible to reconcile the two. Since God’s nature does not change we cannot ignore the OT.

i would like to explain a feeling to you that would be hard to explain unless you had a first hand experience, check out the 12 steps to recovery the 12 step is having a experience and then wanting to share the steps to the experience with others, I personally think AA define spirituality better than any other Religous org

Teach them to embrace fear, challenge, and learning to counter it.

You know another word for mediation is prayer and your way of handling anxiety is pretty much what the bible also says

So a non parent can understand parental love by having been in receipt of it, or witnessing it

And a non parent can be a loving guide and mentor to a younger person (even an older person)

And you can call meditation prayer if you wish but there is no external deity judgement in meditation, there just is

It’s a standard psychological treatment for heightened anxiety

Why does this only make sense to you if wrapped up in religion

We are saying it can exist outside

The same way any other parent would, wing it. I have no problem saying I have no idea. That's what every parent has always done. You face an issue, you do your best to impart lessons and how to deal with life. If I was still Christian, I may tell my child to just "pray on it", but to me, that feels like a cop out for when I don't know what to do and don't want to look for a solution.

Your mom is one woman. There are billions of others. There are also many Christians with anxiety. Religion is how some people deal with life challenges. Others employ other methods. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

one poster on your side agrees with me that it would be hard to express this love without experiencing it, but maybe you're right and he is wrong.
