In a word, academics. Know that lab I spent all night on yesterday? I'm typing this from my laptop in the lab building right now cause I'm still working on it, and I'll probably be here till 9 or 10 tonight. I'll spend a good chunk of tomorrow and Sunday studying for a test in that same class, and then I've got some work for research and homework for the math class to fill in the margins.

Basically, I've foregone a social life in school to focus on grades. I have a full ride scholarship with some really high GPA requirements to keep the money, so for the first 2-3 years here I just sold out and went full hardcore mode on school to maintain it. Now I keep doing that just out of work habits. Got no friends, no clubs, no activities, and the only girls I even see are the 5-10% of the class in upper level electrical engineering.
I should know, because thats how I used to be. I can't count how many times I made a big deal because someone said something to me. Its honestly pathetic, do better
I'm not reading anything into it or acting like I missed out on my 10/10 future wife. I just shared it here cause this thread is full of everyone else's ****ups with women and I figured I'd volunteer my own.

She was black. The meta has changed.

He is probably having a hard time because they arent really showing interesting. They arent asking him to the library and then he isnt going or anything like that.

Thats my point, this isnt a fuk up with women. You dont have to make plans with every woman that acknowledges your existence. jesus christ.

I could see if she was being super flirty. Not the case based on what you described

You aren't missing anything and it's probably honestly for the best. If you have this much trouble with women chances are you will catch a feel for one and it will be one big disappoint for you once more. I am the complete opposite. I am trying to avoid most women cause they love to play mind games with me for the thrill of it.

I am legitimately happier when I don't waste time thinking about women.

Hey guys, remember that lab I said I'd be working on till 9 or 10 tonight?

It's 3AM and I'm still here. And I have to come back in tomorrow.

The prof and TA really hung us out to dry here. They changed the order of the lab manual this last year and made the old lab 5 the new lab 2 - completely forgetting all the other **** that the other 3 labs were supposed to teach us about running the software. So we're stuck doing advanced circuit analysis on a program we've never even used before. The prof realized that he ****up and emailed us some "condensed instructions" about how to run it, but I have ran into several problems that they haven't covered.

Emailed the prof about this, emailed the TA, and texted everyone I know in the class if they know anything about layout. I am praying to God that the due date gets pushed back on account of the prof/TA being dip****s. But until then, I'm proceeding like it's due Wednesday. And that means putting in an assload of work now so I'm not staring down the barrel Tuesday night with a non working circuit.

I’d say this thread is more like a support group for low status men, where everything and anything can be discussed.

I feel hardcore MGTOW is a crock of chit anyway, so i’m not too fussed that we’ve gone off on a tangent.

MGTOW doesn't mean avoiding women. It doesnt mean you cannot have sex or casually date someone.

Right, fellas... this is gonna be one of my weirder posts (possibly my weirdest), but i'm looking for serious opinions/insight.

A female former colleague of mine, who's since become a friend (as in friend-friend), invited me over to her new place last night for a drink and a chat. It's her first time living alone and in typical female fashion, she's bought a cat and a dog for company.

So I head over there, she lets me in, gives me a tour of the place, and we finally end up in the living-room/kitchen (it's one big room, i.e. open plan) where I see this cat:

I'm immediately taken back by how weird it looks. The cat locks eyes with me and I just feel... disgusted, or angry, or something. I really don't quite know how to characterize the emotion, but it was VERY strong and I've never felt anything like it before when looking at an animal.
I ask my lady friend what crazy ass breed it is, and she tells me it's a Cornish Rex. The little kent then starts meowing, and it hits me how weird the meow is - it has a distinctly pathetic vibe, and the more I hear it the more my skin crawls.

So... i'm a bit weirded out, but I figure it's best to ignore the creature - I fix myself a drink and head on over to the couch. My lady friend joins me, and we start chatting, but in my peripheral vision I can see the cat skulking about the kitchen.

At some point in the convo my lady friend mentions that her cat and dog don't get along, hence why the the huge fukin' Doberman is in a cage in the other room. Several minutes later, I hear a whimper from the dog, so I INSIST the dog be let out so it can come join us.
She lets the dog out, and it darts into the room, sniffs around, before locking eyes on the cat. The cat is clearly wary of the dog so it leaps up above the kitchen cabinets where the dog can't reach. Cat and dog remain highly alert of one another and decide to play a waiting game.

The dog calms down and sits by my lady friend, and at various times the cat decides to try it's luck and comes down from it's hiding place. BUT... my lady friend restrains the dog whenever it becomes alert to the cat. I get really, REALLY annoyed by this, and eventually insist "look... the dog just wants to play with the cat, i'm sure it'll be fine". My lady friend is hesitant but she does what I say, and when the cat next ventures down the dog takes a run at it. I'm watching this, and in my mind I keep imagining the dog biting the cat by it's neck and swinging it around like a rag doll, or bludgeoning it to death with it's paws. I'm not fukin' kidding... I was really hoping the dog would tear the creature apart.
Sadly the cat is too wile and uses various nooks and crannies to keep itself out of reach. At one point it darts underneath the sofa, and I contemplate reaching under, pulling it out by one of it's legs and throwing it to the dog.

Right before I leave to go home, I walk up close to the critter who's now sat atop the kitchen counter, and I say to my lady friend, "jesus, she's just skin and bones, she must weigh nothing...". Curiosity gets the best of me, so I take my right hand, put it under the cats belly, scoop her up, and then sorta move her around in the air like a toy airplane. My lady friend is laughing hysterically, but what she doesn't know is how much i'm holding back the urge to hurl this fukin' creature at the wall as hard as I possibly can. I don't do it obviously, but fuk me, I like... really, really wanted to do it.

I have two questons:

1) Has anyone else felt this way about an animal before? Like... an intense visceral disgust/dislike.

2) What does it say about me psychologically? I mean... I was imagining some sick MURDEROUS chit, but I also know that everything I was thinking was horrible and wrong.

It doesn't mean avoiding women, but it does mean making women a low priority in your life generally speaking.

It would be like a "strong independent woman " thread and 90% of posts are about men. How the hell would that make sense?

We might be arguing semantics...

I consider hardcore MGTOW to be giving up on women entirely, and I think that’s a sad outlook.

Lol'd It's happened a lot where I think a girl is interested and I start trying to get more one-on-one time but they'll drop a bombshell that they have a bf/husband or whatever. There's this girl in my dept who always looks my way when I get up to go print something etc. Thought I had a chance so when her, her friend, and my most likely homosexual coworker get in the elevator I made a joke about us being late ....she halfheartedly, as in the bare minimum you can do and still be polite, lol'd and then bought up her husband after the laughter died down.

Just seems like there's nothing out there for me, I mean when I go to the cafeteria for lunch there are tons of hbb's and I catch them mirin sometimes but I'm not sure how to go about hitting on them without being that guy... if it wasn't such a professional setting I'd definitely do it, much like I did at the bs retail/call center jobs I had in the past. I'm in a couple of classes and everytime I try to make lighthearted jokes with the4-5/10that sits next to me she's barely receptive. I say the same type of stuff to this other girl that sits next to me and she laughs so I know that's not the problem. I try to do what I can at the gym ie other day these two girls were wiping down a machine right before I got off and i told her she missed a spot, she thought it was funny but her friend just bertstared and they left. Outside of flat-out cold approaching at the two worst places to hit on women, there doesn't seem to be any other options.

@FA*******, not saying that you missed out on your dream girl but as a brah who has blown chances like that in the past trust me when I say things like that are few and far between. Especially since you don't seem to have the requisite skills necessary to get laid without it being handed on a silver platter. Don't mean to give you a hard time, but next time please THINK before you speak....seems like you made a gut reaction out of nervousness.

Giving up on women entirely is sad, but it can be the best of bad options for low status men who are never going to win with women.

It is for me.

Giving up on anything you want in life is sad and it's never the best option....I always post about how I'm giving up on women but you better believe I'll still end up trying to bang that girl who sits next to me in FIN450. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take which is why no matter how pathetic my success rate is, I'll still try.
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; and if it is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

Yes it can be. Should the 50 yr old man give up his dream of the NBA?

We have to be realistic in life and honest with ourselves. And sometimes you have to accept some things are not going to happen.

In terms of women, if you find the chase fun in itself go ahead, but I haven't found years of rejection at all worthwhile. I'm better off accepting the facts

I mentioned this in another thread recently, but one of my pet peeves is when people fail to differentiate a difficult situation from a hopeless situation...

50 year old wanting to play in the NBA = hopeless.

Your 26 year old FA ass trying to get a woman or two = difficult.

And it’s my experience that people are all too eager to assess their situations as hopeless when they’re often not.

It depends how you define hopeless. You're basically saying hopeless is only stuff that is 100% impossible but I disagree.

Incredibly unlikely things that you have no control over can also be hopeless.

Being say, a 5'0 ugly midget and trying to have success with women is a hopeless thing. Impossible? No. But it will be hopeless by any reasonable definition of hopeless.

Even the NBA example, yes the 50 yr old is hopeless but so is the average 18 yr old. If you don't have what it takes, it's hopeless.

Like winning the lottery. For some men, their odds of dating success is basically like the lottery. They can keep buying tickets but some will never win because of who they are.

In most species the low status men have little to no access to females. It's a fact of life

“Hopeless” carries extremely negative connotations, and I would say most people generally equate it with “impossible”. Let’s not get too caught up with exact definitions, but rather what people are likely meaning when they use these words.

Therefore, unless a situation is truly 100% impossible, using a word like hopeless isn’t doing you any favours.

I agree but ok, look at a case like me. I'm 26 and I've had no success with women my entire life except one fluke.

Obviously that feels hopeless.

Well you’re doing better than me, relative to your age.

I was a kissless, hugless, dateless virgin up until the age of 27, when I chose to get my first experiences with a hooker.

Got my first girlfriend at 31; only lasted sixth months.

32 now and no good prospects for the immediate future, and likely none for the distant future either unless I embark upon a big life change.
