How can a school let themselves be so susceptible to something so awful?
- Why didn't they have a CERT (certified emergency response team comprised of able bodied staff) take on the shooter with their own firearms?
-Why would they ban guns on the premise yet make 'zero' attempts of safeguarding the school from said incident?
- When the average police response time is FIVE minutes, why would they wait five minutes for the good guys to show up with guns, when the good guys already present (the staff) lay useless and unable to stop the threat?

I would also add "too much information" to that list. I believe that not all of us can handle large amounts of news and new information being throw at us on a daily basis. It's literally too much for the brain to process for some people.

That's part of it. Our food is incredibly ****ed with as well. Men are taught they're not important and society reinforces this. I think a lot of young men desperately want to belong somewhere, but they're lost. They don't feel connected to the rest of humanity so they adopt a nihilistic view.

The scene, according to a tweet from the Broward Sheriff's Office, was still active and the shooter is still at large.

Dispatch at the sheriff's office confirmed the school was on lockdown and police were on location.

Coral Springs Police asked the public to avoid the area of the high school, saying it was an active scene. A nearby middle school was also put on lockdown as a precaution, officials said.

Authorities also said students and teachers should remain barricaded in the school until they could be reached by police.

A number of students were seen walking or running from the area, the outlet said.

A person who claims to be at the scene posted pictures to Twitter of themselves hiding beneath desks in one of the classrooms.

In a tweet from Broward Schools, the high school is dismissing students and the district's Special Investigative Unit, along with law enforcement, were on site.

President Trump offered his "prayers and condolences to the families of the victims" of the school shooting on Twitter.

"No child, teacher, or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school," he said.

Governor Rick Scott said on Twitter that he'd spoken to the Broward Sheriff Scott Israel, as well as other officials, in regards to the incident and will "continue to receive updates from law enforcement."

The FBI is also in touch with local authorities and responding to the incident, Fox News confirmed.

this a little bit out there but i think some state should look at doing some kinda statewide "paramilitary" conscription. like something between boy scouts and real military, where you gotta do community service and physically train and so forth. that way young dudes who never played sports and had shiity parents and so on have at least another opportunity to belong to a positive group.
