I'm not sure why the people on the left try to exploit EVERY situation like this for political purposes within minutes of it happening, but it's pretty disgusting. They're worse than ambulance chasing lawyers.

Unless you're saying to just ban all guns and confiscate the 300 million out there and build a border wall etc etc to get rid of them all lol

Something along the lines of a licensing system. Take a test and/or course. Pass test. Submit application with references. Wait a month or two and receive your license to purchase firearms.
This would weed out a lot of goofballs.

There's no minority report here - he was threatening to kill people in public forum.

Even with stricter background checks this kid would've been able to buy the guns, he had no felonies, never been institutionalized, i guess you could believe they would've found his youtube comments but if the FBI couldn't link it to this kid then I don't think some background check would either.

The problem is that we are not starting from zero, we have to face the reality of how many guns are already out there. They said 5 million ar-15s, for example.
A ban tomorrow doesn't change that supply, a determined person will get one. We honestly might be too far gone sadly.

Not digging through 46 pages but assuming im not the only one sick of this dumb media/politician cycle where everything gets politicized the day of and right after something sick like this occurs. Can we let these families and kids have some peace before politicians and the media descending on the place asking gun control questions and lining up to pander pretending to give a crap. I hear these interviews for the 5 minutes I turn on the news and I feel awful that our media and "leaders" just sink their teeth into whatever they can find to promote their agenda. Then some media schlub comes on bishing about the woes of guns or how some random law could've stopped this.
I'm just sick of it. Sick of everything getting politicized and turned into some black or white situation, where it seems like the real issues arn't discussed and nothing goes anywhere. Very few talking about mental health. Very few talking about his unstable family.

My suggestion is not an ultimate fix to the problem. Bad people will obtain ways to harm people regardless of better screening, stricter background checks or a firearms ban. It's simply a way to help limit some firearms falling into the hands of deranged individuals. If a firearms licensing process could limit a handful of school shootings a year would you (i'm assuming an educated firearms owner) not be all for that?
If you aren't what are you proposing? i don't see a lot of logical suggestions ITT.

You're just being willfully obtuse.
In all seriousness what exactly are you trying to achieve by posting in here? All you've done is show that your views and political beliefs are incompatible with any form of gun control. Which is fine, but you're not invalidating anyone else's differing opinions or suggestions with your aggressive opinions.

2. An actual proposal, repeatedly posted ITT, is to have armed security, armed teachers, or more LEOs at schools so that school shooters get shoot instead of going on a rampage.
