And that's why there are Olympic athletes shooting guns during the Olympic games. I'm glad I can't afford to go watch lol

It does make me wonder, though, why those 300 million + guns in the US are almost all faulty. They aren't succeeding in their one purpose. Are they just...broken? Or are we too ignorant to use them? What's going on?

Guns serve one purpose fellas. No one wakes up and says - im taking this cell phone today to a high school/church and going to end lives with no remorse.
firearms are for hunting, home protection, and target shooting for the hobbyist. its statistically very rare that one is used unlawfully, just by how prolific they are.

so you see where the rationale is. the only difference is malice vs negligence.

The vast majority of gun violence is gang violence, so no, no one in the gun debate is going to switch sides. 2A guys aren't going to budge because they KNOW gangs DGAF about laws. In fact, if 2a guys didn't care about the law, they wouldn't want to preserve it in its current state so much.

So what do we get? We get the media plastering school shootings everywhere to make the issue look like it's not "gang-related" and to water down arguments. It's highly disingenuous and quite alarming. There are many things that could be done for better gun control, but the media keeps pushing for an agenda of blanket bans. CNN, being one of those outlets, poises everything including their misrepresented stats for the sake of outright elimination. Why? Because targeting gang violence is racist.

We do have a culture of violence. It's a hard pill to swallow for conservatives because this angle is being pursued hard by leftists who conveniently ignore the source of violent influence in our culture. In this sense, hollywood leftists are the ultimate hypocrites and they have helped precisely 0% in any political debate. They're only here to shut discussion down, to keep a consensus from arising, and to quell solutions. At least east coast leftists seem to care about labor. Anyways, I digress.

Additionally, we have a problem with mental health in this community, which is something a lot of Reagan Repubs DGAF about. We've clearly got partisan issues keeping us from progressing AT ALL because Dems have drawn the line in the sand at banning semi-autos and pubs have drawn a line in the sand at mental health. Are these topics ever talked about in media? Not very often, but it's the logical conclusion of the path both parties push.

This response is flat.

Wouldnt the Pulse nightclub incident be easier to light it on fire? The place is small and would have gone up in minutes.

Instead, using a gun is much more satisfying. Is it not?

LOL, I'm just quoting CNN, they pulled those stats, they probably verified and triple checked them before they where published. The are legit. And then we have you, a ******* from the misc citing nothing, making up any excuse he can to lessen or deemphasize the overwhelming truth

Answer me kid, how fn retarded are you? You just had a guy literally live out a grand theft auto fantasy in real life. How could he carry that out without guns? why does someone need fn endless assualt rifles?

Somehow, you don't think its a problem, or even if you do, its not ever important enough to justify taking away your guns.

You know for a fact 100% its only a matter of time til the next mass shooting right? More dead Americans

Answer me this, would you have no mass shootings, and ban on guns, or would you keep things as they are?

Ehh this guy has to be trolling.

Perhaps you don't have the same perspective that most Americans do who watched CNN SLAUGHTER stats for the 2016 election.

The mainstream news outlets in America are designate themselves as entertainment by law here.

CNN just assumed to be "legit" with stats, and about guns? lol, that's a good one

Anyone post this yet?

Cliffs:
-Every news outlet reports there have been 18 school shootings this year
-the organization that reports this number counts any gun fire on a campus
-one of the "shootings" was a guy killing himself in his car in the parking lot of an abandoned school

Thats why youre ITT. Guns obviously serve a purpose in your life that brings a sense of satisfaction, protection, and pride.

If you feel threatened , you can take matters into your own hand.

Why do you think guns are the weapons of choice in these mass killings?

It's straight logic.

But, if you like, go ahead and argue/persuade/correct the way you want.

Here is the post I was was responding to. Have at it

I mean those dead kids are people from your country. Killed with your guns. Because some misc'er like yourself snapped and could (as easily as I could procure say a knife) get himself a gun. And then the damage he can cause is amplified to the nth degree. Not so here (new zealand) because we don't have guns every where, cause we're not fn retarded like you guys are, hence its hard to get a gun.

I really think your society as a whole is somewhat sick. You don't value life like the rest of the world does.

Anyone else notice how when there's one of these shootings everyone, even the family says "yeah we expected this, he was a nut".

But whenever there's a gang-type shooting committed by people who have been in and out of jail their whole lives, all the family and friends be like "he didn't do nothing. He was a good kid who fell in with the wrong crowd and made a mistake".

Lol cmon m8, you wanna have a serious discussion then you have to stop being absurd and be rational. I dunno how many students drove their truck into a school and killed 20 people.

The bomb thing is also ridiculous. The columbine kids had several homemade propane bombs and they never went off. You’re correct though that a properly made bomb in an area of the school that’s a high volume area would be mass casualties. but how many bombs successfully went off in a school during a mass shooting? Bombs are to unreliable and the consequences of inproperly building of a bomb are not worth the risk for most of these mass shootings.

A plane and fire lol. Look m8 I don’t have a dog in this fight, whatever happens has no impact on me one way or the other but it doesn’t mean I still can’t discuss it. I’m not for more laws and I’m not against them either but you’re really just blindly arguing any sort of solution and it makes yourself look weak saying stuff like that. You’ve made a lot of good points but you need to be able to see the other side of things as well.

Let's get the ban going on cars and fast food as well. Heart disease is far more deadly than any firearm. 30% of global deaths in 2015 were cardiovascular related.

Thats your argument for guns.
As a defender

Its also used on the offense. Thats where the issue is.

The chance of you using your gun in defense is much lower than a gun being used on the offense

You obviously are not in touch with reality.

Here's an assignment. Go out, on your own, so I don't tarnish the result, and find what you believe is a reasonably accurate assessment of the number ofdefensive gun usesin the US each year. Report back with your findings (or if you are too lazy I can simply tell you the numbers and you can pretend to ignore it)

That’s a false dichotomy. Those aren’t the only two choices.
10% of the pop is responsible for about half of those homicides.
A vast majority of total homicides are from illegally owned guns, a tiny percent are from public shootings like this.
Also were getting a huge influx of immigration from the countries wiht the absolute highest murder rates per capita in the world. El salvador, gautemala, and mexico. I think gautemala and el salvador have around 50-80 per 100k homicide rates. Those skew things as well.

Its just funny you never get the full picture. It should be very obvious theyre framing things to push a certain agenda and cover up something they dont want talked about. Which is minority crime in the US is massively out control and getting worse.

It's very hard for someone who doesn't live in America to understand why Americans feel they need guns. I'm not completely ignorant to the idea of it, I get that having a gun in your house definitely provides a better sense of security than having a baseball bat under your bed. And I would wager many people have found themselves in a situation where having a gun and using it in self-defence has saved peoples lives. But then again I have never needed a gun and I don't know anyone who has been in a situation where they actually needed a gun. This isn't an argument for/against, it's just me saying that having been raised in the UK and now living in Finland I can safely say my life has not been negatively impacted in any way by not having a gun, and I would rather live my life in a society where guns are illegal. I genuinely feel safer knowing pretty much no-one has a gun, than knowing we all could get a gun.

I guess in America it is different. Maybe you have so much gang violence or that guns are so deeply embedded in your culture that you can't reasonably get rid of all guns and still feel safe because you'd still be worrying about criminals concealing weapons. I guess that it's just not logical now to say "Ban all guns". It's too late for that. If as an American you could turn back time and have guns outlawed a long time ago maybe you would, or maybe you wouldn't. But if we're talking about being practical about the situation then maybe gun laws could at least be better than they are now? It's not like a screening process for millions of people can ever be 100% fool proof, but can anyone really sit here and say "Oh, a Cruz is always going to slip through the cracks, nothing more we can do". Should systems be in place to put certain people on a kind of "probation" for firearms? Could the legal age be raised? Could it be made somewhat harder to purchase? Americans would know more than me I guess.

Honestly, and I don't wanna conclude this post with a veiled insult towards Americans, but there are some really asinine arguments for guns. The worst one is any reference to the 2nd amendment as if it was etched in stone by God himself and re-writing it in any way is some sort of sacrilege. I'm not too keen on the strawman like argument posted above either. I mean yes, I get it. A gun used properly should never kill an innocent person, a car used properly should never kill an innocent person, therefore if you remove guns from society than why not remove cars! Except its like saying "Alcohol used properly shouldnt be deadly, ******* used properly shouldn't be deadly, so let's legalise *******!". It doesn't do anything to address the specifics of the situation and just tries to discredit an argument by providing a fairly basic analogy, then even worse we end up going off on a redundant tangent arguing why cars should remain legal. It's a big fat waste of time.

The thing with this kid though, is that he legally purchased the gun. No other laws on mental health or background checks would’ve stopped the purchase of the gun. So the only way this would’ve been prevented is either a complete ban on guns or some other drastic action that would impose upon Americans rights. So then it comes down to whether everybody blames all these mass shootings on guns, or is their sometbhbg in our culture that is causing this chit to continue happening. Banning guns seems like a knee jerk reaction that won’t address the actual problem of what’s causing this chit to happen in the first place.

Like I said earlier, nobody can argue that guns don’t cause more deaths in these situations compared to a knife or whatever other weapon. But the actual problem isn’t the guns, the guns aren’t making these people do this, but the guns definitely making these incidents worse then they would have been if no guns were involved. So instead of gun discussion it should be a discussion on what’s causing these events to happen in the first place.

No the weapon is not the issue, evil is. If he didnt have a gun he would drive a truck thru them or drop backpacks full of explosives on them. You cant stop evil by restricting law abiding citizens

Just take the shooters you take alive. Put on live stream and on tv. Cut off their cock, and whip the phuck out of them brutally, cut them with razors, beat them to death over like a 30 day period or insane torture while filmed. Nobody will want to try mass killing.
