If you want him to stop being weird he has to go out and be with other kids who will make him feel weird for that kind of behavior. It's the way I learned..
Well he's 8. He goes to school. He's not weird in that way. That's almost normal gross kid stuff. Kids are disgusting. He's weird like.. he doesn't really have friends. Kids do not respond to him AT ALL. Little kids seem to like him, but the kids his age don't get him at all. He doesn't really play sports or have the activity level/energy of most kids. He would rather watch life hack videos and try them. Or build weird ****. None of that sounds weird, but the way kids respond to him is. I wish I could help him because he says he spends recess alone behind a building just trying to stay warm.

Sounds like he may just be introverted?

Is this the kid that told you to quit being such a vagina? I found that hilarious, btw.

I don't really have any advice, tho. That really would make me mad, especially because you got yourself some pretty funny boys. Pity that the other kids cannot pick up on that.

Lol, no that was the younger one that called me a vagina hahahaha. It WAS hilarious!

And it does make me mad.. I don't know how to help him either.

TVK... it's terrible that I think being introverted is weird isn't it? Because he definitely is. I'm the opposite and so is his brother. Maybe I should just let it go.

Does he seem upset about it? I would only really worry if he is.

You sound like you are describing my oldest to the letter.

Did he have a speech delay growing up? Mine did, and he still struggles talking/communicating to kids in groups, that critical time (2-4yo) when they are figuring it out he couldnt say the words. The speech delay resolved but was part of an overall delay in coordination which keeps him from sports at the same level as other kids, he just cant move his hands/feet as fast with the same accuracy yet. I was the same way with the same issues at that age and didnt really grow out of it until I was 10-12 and by then puberty was wrecking me in a different way.

I decided to just lean into it with the boy. We stay up late and watch weird videos on youtube about the Titanic and volcanos and blackholes and anything else we see, play minecraft and other interactive games, and do kitchen experiments while my wife yells about the mess. We are in a big enough school/community that he has found some really good friends now who are into the same stuff. On the plus side he is light years ahead of other kids with computer tech.

I honestly am not good with computer tech. If I can't figure something out (I usually don't even try because I'm afraid to fukk stuff up) I ask my son to do it. Because he knows how. So again, same thing. And that's the kind of stuff he wants to watch. Train videos, collapsing buildings, demolition... and the stuff he builds in minecraft is mind boggling. He built a replica of my mother's house. A 737, a functioning railroad track that is like a roller coaster.. thanks ENG. I guess I just worry about him being lonely. But... at the same point, he likes to be alone. I don't recall late speech for him, but EVERYTHING to do with his physical development was later. He didn't even crawl until he was like... 1.5 years old. To this day, like your son, his movements are slower and the coordination isn't there. He would rather make a back to the future track with the train/delorean than play hockey anyway though.

Bitty, it bothers him being out in the cold I think. He says he has no friends and when I mention the few he talks about, he says he can't find them at recess and the other kids say they already have enough players or whatever. He used to play with the girls only, until about grade 2. Then, even that stopped.

Your sons a nerd. Nothing wrong with that. My oldest daughter didn’t have a lot of friends growing up but I made sure both daughters knew I was always a loving foundation.

Personally I was glad she didn’t get influenced by kids in school cause school mentality these days is horrifying. The friends she has in 8th grade tend to be a lot of self thinking girls that don’t go with the trends.

Just hang in there and always be there for him. Someday he’ll be their boss.

Will be 31 soon, now wut?

Personally I'm quite happy at this age, wouldn't want to be in my 20's again, I think men hit their peaks around 30-35

I feel like I'm finally peaking now. Like before 30 is just training for the peak. I feel like I'm prettier now, more in shape and my sex drive is through the roof. 30 is in November. And I'm not even worried about it. I know a lot of women worry about 30 and men are more at 40 I think... But I feel pretty damn good. Also, I'm thinking as peaking as a positive. Just to be clear. Maybe I'll find out I was wrong and it's later in life. Doubtful, but here's to hoping!

I can agree with this. I've always been in decent shape, but I've definitely been most comfortable in my 30's. JUST turned 37, which I'm not thrilled about, but still doing fine.

And for some reason my hairline has held up far better than any male relative. I'll count my blessings.

I was skinny fat and a lazy phuk. I didn't really have much ambition. It's cliché but when I started lifting seriously is when it all changed.

Still peaking at 45 kids. Well, except for the hair. Hair is leaving my head and starting to grow on my back and shoulders.

Still peaking at 45 kids. Well, except for the hair. Hair is leaving my head and starting to grow on my back and shoulders.
I'm dreading that day. Got plenty of hair on my head but the rest of my upper body looks like Chewbacca.

not thrilled about being 37? That's still young to me... Are you worried about or dreading 40? And kudos in the hairline. I have a bff who's hairline started receding at 18.... And now at 28, it's about halfway back. Poor guy. I think he owns it tho. He can grow an amazing beard. Lol.

Happy hump day boyos, yoga class this evening.. For those of you old turds looking to spruce up your joints and ligaments, do yoga srs.. Still play soccer recreationally, and I legitimately keep up with 20 year olds due to yoga..

how old are you, this will determine how impressed I am with this statement.

Not trying to be an alarmist, but what you both describe could potentially be Asperger's/high functioning autism. Just throwing it out there in case you want to do some reading and see if it fits because if it does there may be some peace in knowing there is a reason for the things they struggle with and possibly some supports that could help.
