I somehow dragged myself into an argument with a guy I know on FB that I know in person.

He basically said that society has a gun fetish and he was saying that many people use guns to compensate for something they don't have or feeling empowered.

It sort of frustrated me because he was making assumptions. The gun fetish thing annoyed me and he was projecting these ideas of gun owners.

I don't have time for this chit lmao.

Lots of good ones on the market. How it fits you and feels should be primary driver. Hoyt, Mathews are expensive. You can get a decent setup for around $500 complete if you go with Parker, Diamond, etc. I shoot a 10 yo Mathews switchback. Still kills deer dead.

Tax return is in. Time to build that 10 AR pistol I've always wanted. For the lower I want an Aero gen 2 or a Spikes tactical unicorn. What you guys think?

**EDIT: Level a scope
Get a deck of playing cards. Put enough playing cards on the receiver/mount for the cards to be stacked a little higher than the bottom of your rings. Put the scope in the rings and tighten down your screws with an inch-lbs torque wrench. Make sure that you've got the playing cards under the flat part of your scope.

With levels, it's important to have two of them, and make sure that you're leveling the scope to the rifle, and not the scope to the ground.

Hello, Coach. Miller lite is my yard work beer. I took the day off and am going to get the yard looking better. Garage needs to be organized as well. Should be a decent day.

I will have to adjust it a bit to zero it out. I've been practicing fast acquisition and I like it. I get some starbursts but that's with any red dot for me. I'm liking it thus far and can't wait to take it to the range.

I still have a couple few thousand .223/5.56 so I think I'm ok there. I probably need more 9mm first.

The whole "fetish/compensating" thing is just a lazy ad hominem approach. It's the "I know you are, but what am I?" of anti-gun drivel.

The RIGHT to bear arms is an inalienable right . . . the right to protect you, your family and your property from the dirtbags who threaten them regardless of the period in time. Dirtbags (and tyranny included) are universally present. Wish them away or don't exercise your right if you want, but don't expect me to rely wholly on someone else to protect all of that.

Empowering? If by that you mean leveling the playing field or providing an advantage over a threat with a weapon . . . then ok. Why wouldn't I want to have that? When you can eliminate the world of bad people or instantly teleport a cop to my location on demand, let me know. Of course--they have to actually do something when they get there. The FL situation where the first cops took cover is the prime example of not trusting your life to a government representative with a gun to save you.

Compensating? Does this person have the smallest house on the block? Drive the least expensive car? Again, lazy point is lazy.

It's also fun and practical to know how to shoot. With hunting, you can provide for yourself and your family. Does your friend have any recreational activities and what practical purpose do they really present?

Looks pretty awesome, some of those switchbacks looked like they'd be a little challenging. Last time I did any riding was a year ago up in Flagstaff, AZ. Was right after winter and the trail was obliterated by fallen trees and boulders. Ended up knocking my fork into one and put a tiny knick in it that tore my fork seal and leaked oil all over my front brake making it useless. Made it slightly interesting coming all the way down the mountain with rear brake only.

Unfortunately a perusal of many 'mainstream' (non professional oriented) gun forums will show a lot of (or at least, an adequately number of very 'loud') guys who very clearly have a strong association between their gun and their penis and/or testicles...evidenced by the fact that they, being manly men, choose a larger caliber (cartridge) than you do.

No ammo is on the chopping block (nationally).

In 2013 was .22lr on the chopping block? Because it ceased to exist lol

The rhyme and reason for panic ammo buying and dramatic increases in the market price of ammo aren't really something that can be predicted. In the 2008/9 panic, .380 was impossible to find. If you want it, you better have it before other people think it's on the chopping block and buy it all

Obviously, the ammo itself isn't on any ban lists yet, but if there's going to be a run on ammo, that's probably where it will be. It could have spillover effects, but it wouldn't bet it would be the primary target.

Wasn't .22lr purposely in low supply because it was low margin and ammo manufacturers were dedicating capacity to other rounds?

Wasn't .22lr purposely in low supply because it was low margin and ammo manufacturers were dedicating capacity to other rounds?
No. The production facilities for rimfire and centerfire are completely different. You can't just shut down a rimfire line and start cranking out 5.56/9 when there is a demand surge

The ammo itself wasn't on any ban lists in 2013 either...and it too was all about rifles...yet 9mm range ammo was up at like 35 cents per round...after coming down from like 50 per

When people get into a banic they just buy everything. Remember gun stores not even having Glocks left on the shelf, or asking $700? lol

I'm sure what money they make from firearm sales is almost nothing compared to what they make from the rest of their sporting goods sales. So I guess they deem it to be smarter to cater to that...

Installed three ARLO cameras this weekend, very easy to do, what do you guys use for a schedule on them? Leave them running 24/7 or deactivate them during certain times of day when you're home or what? No good vantage point of the backdoor from the outside, so placed it inside and our dogs set it off everytime they get some water. Also need to take down a bird nest, fly by and trigger them.
