Strong WTF . . .

http://thehill.com/homenews/administ...process-second

President Trump on Wednesday voiced support for confiscating guns from certain dangerous individuals, even if it violates due process rights.

“I like taking the guns early like in this crazy man’s case that just took place in Florida ... to go to court would have taken a long time,” Trump said at a meeting with lawmakers on school safety and gun violence.

“Take the guns first, go through due process second,” Trump said.

Trump was responding to comments from Vice President Pence that families and local law enforcement should have more tools to report potentially dangerous individuals with weapons.

“Allow due process so no one’s rights are trampled, but the ability to go to court, obtain an order and then collect not only the firearms but any weapons,” Pence said.

"Or, Mike, take the firearms first, and then go to court," Trump responded.

Lets be real...

We need a new breed of politician less worried with their political base, and more concerned with actual logical thinking, and productive, maybe even ground breaking ideas.

this is exactly what we have here in CA. it's called a "gun violence restraining order"

essentially family can report you because they're worried.
police come, take your guns,
then its up to you to go to court and prove your innocence

To be honest I'm okay with this. Maybe make that person have to have a date in court and prove or provide insight into their allegation so not just anyone can say "Herp derp take his guns". But parents, loved ones, and friends should be able to call out people who are not Emotionally or Mentally stable (even if its temporary).

I know its gonna be unpopular amongst the 2A die hard community. But something needs to be done to take guns away from people who have "fallen thru the cracks" of our system.

I am okay from the opposite position...

If reported by friends or family the cops can then seize guns for a period of up to 30 days, but must return those guns at the end of that period if a trial by jury can not prove the defendant incapable of owning said guns.

This isn't the same as what happens.

Say you are dating this chick and she gets pissed off at you. "Reports you to the police that she thinks you are a danger" boom guns confiscated and now the burden is on you to prove you are "Not a threat"

Giant Sasquatch guy. On the Arlos you don’t want them positioned where they will be going off erroneously all the time. Play around with positioning. You can set schedules, or use the geo fencing. I have not yet. Ours are armed at night and whenever we are gone. I do need to set geofencing on my wife’s phone so she doesn’t forget to arm it when she leaves. It’s also nice when at home and expecting a delivery. I love my Arlo and they already caught some piece of $hit looking for cars to get into and lots of action vids of my dog hunting in the yard when my wife forgets to disarm it in the morning before letting him out.

Not sure what you are referring too. I get Omni's post.

Almost EVERYONE agrees that there are mentally incompetent people that should not be allowed to own guns (or run free for that matter)
The issue is how those people are determined.
Who the burden of proof is ON.
What constitutes "incapable".

The reason gun owners can't give up the mental card is because liberals will use it to include various conditions that sound good in theory, but are really lies. (Depression, anti-social behaviors, any form of ptsd, ect)

i may have summerized that a bit too vaguely. I think the person reporting you needs some kind of proof, but what they consider "proof" i have no idea. might be very little or subjective, or might need to be very concrete, i'm not sure.

My dad lost his gun rights (In Idaho) because my mother attacked him in a physical altercation and managed to convince a judge a "protection order" was needed.

There are no requirements only feels.

Keep in mind this is Idaho. Took 3 years before the protection order was lifted even after he was found not guilty for "domestic violence in front of children"

Don't date crazy is basically the only advice that can work for this.... It happens. This one hits home for a lot of cops too. Cop is dating someone who is crazy. She reports him. Cops come and have to take his guns. He now cannot be employed as a police officer. There are a few exceptions, but after his guns are taken, which is mandatory, he's pretty screwed.

Domestic violence is the big one. A Domestic violence report saying someone was pushed/touched in a violent way could be enough to get someone's gun taken away.

As far as the gun violence restraining order, I believe you need to have reason to believe the "suspect" is going to commit a crime with the guns. This reasonableness needs to be judged by a police officer and then a judge who would ultimately give permission for the gun to be taken. For the Domestic Violence situation, no judge needs to be contacted right away like that.

Not much different than how much damage a lying woman can do crying rape. I know someone who did 5 years in jail over a supposed molestation of a 14 year old. I've known him my entire life and I justknewthere was no god damn way this guy did it. AFTER serving his entire time she admitted to her family she made it up. He's been out for like 6 years now. Will never be able to hunt again, buy or own firearms, etc...

I created a mode called Outdoor Motion Only, which obviously has all outdoor cams set for motion detection and recording. I have the problematic cameras (bird/street/vehicle activity) set to low sensitivity but they also record when the main cameras get triggered. Lots of cross-triggering for multiple angles, and different recording lengths to save battery. With a big dog and a lively cat inside, I usually keep the inside ones off for motion detection where the animals go, and record on the inside cameras where they don't go.

I pretty much use this mode only, either when we leave the house, or go to bed at night. I've tried using a schedule but since you can only set one mode at a time, you have to remember to change the mode, so you might as well just set up one master mode.

Sometimes easier said than done. All girls are varying levels of crazy. Just depends on how well they can hide it early on.
