I think the R's will stop most of it cold. But the damage in terms of having a republican president actively pushing gun control and putting the R's in a bad position where dems can trot Trump's quotes out as support is now already done. I don't think it's 85D chess at all. I think he's phukking up and thinking he can get away with actually passing gun control that he thinks is "minor" in the grand scheme of things 'cuz deal maker.

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/loca...202486304.html
Nikolas Cruz’s semiautomatic rifle may have jammed during the massacre at a high school in Parkland earlier this month, according to Miami Herald news partner CBS4.
Cruz then dropped the AR-15 and fled with other students, CBS4 reporter Jim DeFede tweeted Tuesday afternoon, citing three sources familiar with the investigation. Cruz still had 150 rounds of ammunition — meaning many more people could have died had he been able to keep firing.
A source not authorized to speak on the record confirmed to the Herald that Cruz struggled with his gun during the onslaught, either due to the weapon jamming or because he fumbled trying to reload it.
Several state legislators who visited the school with crime-scene investigators said they learned from police that Cruz’s rifle was not top-of-the-line, perhaps explaining the malfunction.
The “weapon and bullets were not high quality and were breaking apart,” one of the legislators, state Sen. Lauren Book, D-Plantation, told the Herald.
Cruz went in with only 10-round magazines because larger clips would not fit in his duffel bag, Book said.

It a funny that the people who call Trump "literally hitler" are cheering that he thinks guns should be taken away without due process.

So guys I've been wanting a .308. I was going to build a nice bolt gun, and then get myself a nice M1A or something down the line. But in light of current events n such I'm gonna put the bolt gun on hold and I want to get myself a semi-auto .308 first.
My only real dilemma never having owned any semi-auto .308's, is quality. I'm not trying to nickel and dime this build, I want it to be high end but I also don't want to close my eyes and throw money at it.
Options:
- AERO PRECISION - 308 AR 18" OEM RIFLE (https://www.brownells.com/firearms/r...RO%2bPRECISION)
Will this be comparable in performance with the highest end AR-10's? (reliability, accuracy)
- AERO PRECISION - 308 AR M5 LOWER RECEIVER (https://www.brownells.com/rifle-part...RO%2bPRECISION)
Or do you think building it myself over time will yield a better bang for my performance buck? I just rarely if ever have seen .308 uppers, or other pieces floating around on specials
- Skip the AR platform and go M1A? SCAR? Any other semi auto .308 that are highly reputable?

Edit: If looking to buy a complete rifle, do NOT overlook the DPMS Gen 2 308's. They're also very, very good guns at the price point. Don't let DPMS's junk AR-15 line fool you. They did everything right on their Gen 2 308's.

I thought about this...maybe I did vote Trump in the general? I don't even remember lol I know I voted Cruz in our early primaries and I was going to throw my vote away on the Libertarian candidate Johnson but then he and especially his VP candidate when full ****ing retard stupid on, yeah, gun control so I said **** him.
Cruz probably wouldn't have stood a chance in the general and his family seems to find him cringeworthy but he was the only one available anywhere along the line that I think would really abide by the Constitution. It's like him, Ron Paul, and Rand

Never give up anything. Bumpstocks being talked about again? Did that ******* in FL even use a bump-stock?
Why are we talking about compromise at all when it was the same government (that wants to legislate firearms) that messed up and allowed this shooting to take place? How about we get irate at the Dems for their policies that allowed this shooting to happen? It was their plans that supported not arresting people and ignoring reports so that they could get more money. No arrests = no crime = more money. They are the ones with blood on their hands, not the NRA and us law-abiding citizens.
Everyone is up in a frenzy right now. That's because the media is pushing harder than ever before. This too shall pass. We just don't need to give up ANYTHING in the meantime. When talking to people out there don't even hint that you would be willing to compromise on gun control. The laws are there and they failed because our government is incompetent. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

People are sheep and people are stupid
But having your deadlocked stance only makes the media, and everyone whos not PRO 2A angrier and in more of a frenzy. You need to at least PRETEND your willing to negotiate to calm things down faster. And sure throw some crazy policies out there you'd be "Okay" with that you know have no chance of passing.
But lol dude this a MF'in internet forum, and ur trying to put down a legal gun owner, who is actively teaching and getting his circle of people more into firearms, and teaching them the sporting and utilitarian value of them.
You may continue foaming at the mouth now....

What am I supposed to do with my 15 round mags when they get outlawed here? Throw them in the trash?
I never thought I'd feel this disappointed in 2nd amendment progress during a republican presidency.

We (ones that support no compromise) aren't the crazy ones here. It's ludicrous to ban things (bump stocks, triggers, etc) that weren't even used in this or the majority of these shootings. That's like saying we should ban cars because he may have driven one at one point. Once you see the stupidity of the media, law-makers, and average Joe citizen that supports this BS, it's not hard to put your foot down and say 'enough is enough'.
It's so mind blowing that we are letting the elephant in the room (democratic policies) go unnoticed here with this event. Police, FBI, etc were notified/flagged about this kid what, 45 times? And they did nothing to prevent this. Where's the blame and outrage for the dirt-bag kid that did the crime? It's all focused on us firearms owners. Don't back down from this fight guys. We aren't the ones that need to apologize for anything.
