Once you see the stupidity of the media, law-makers, and average Joe citizen that supports this BS, it's not hard to put your foot down and say 'enough is enough'.

It's so mind blowing that we are letting the elephant in the room (democratic policies) go unnoticed here with this event. Police, FBI, etc were notified/flagged about this kid what, 45 times? And they did nothing to prevent this. Where's the blame and outrage for the dirt-bag kid that did the crime? It's all focused on us firearms owners. Don't back down from this fight guys. We aren't the ones that need to apologize for anything.
This is pretty off topic to the gun debate. But I 100% agree with you. The far left & far right are both literal poisons to getting the USA back on track. You cant have one idea without upsetting half the country and there is no way every idea is dog chit bad. Both parties defenses are OMG U CONSERVATIVE NUT or FCKIN TWINK SOY LIBERAL... and then they stop listening to you. Doesn't it make sense some Liberal ideologies (such as letting twinks bottom out twinks) And some Conservative ideologies (such as small govt) Both makes sense and would create a far better nation going forward?

I don't know how we break out of this 2 team system, because they're both worthless. But I do agree that would be the root of the problem in our politics if "the root" is what your trying to attack.

Yeah

Been doing that for decades, we have

Used to be you could mail order a machine gun to your door and trucks in high school parking lots had guns hung in the window, now look at us, introducing bills that would ban Apex or Geissele triggers. SMDH

Don't give an inch, pretend to give an inch in return for a mile.

Only if, by that, you mean "the gun debate" shouldn't exist as a result of the FL shooting, and, really, the "gun debate" is off topic of what happened and off topic of what will help prevent it from happening again.

I don't see how your implications about homosexuality "would create a far better nation going forward". 'Not that there's anything wrong with that', do what (and who) you want to, sure, etc, but, make a far better nation? meh, not seeing that.

Small government that doesn't tax or spend nearly what it does now, doesn't go out and mass murder people including true civilians overseas, doesn't piss off everybody and create extremists that then attack us to continue the cycle, and doesn't make people feel like the government is there to hold their hand and assume responsibilities that are supposed to be theirs as an individual? Yeah, that would help make a better nation going forwar.

I am one of the last ones ITT to call someone out or come off as being rude. So don't take this the wrong way, but you are wrong. Like I said in my post above, we don't need to apologize or appease for anything. We law-abiding gun owners did NOTHING wrong. We shouldn't compromise anymore on gun control until the government shows that they can actually be competent and prevent things like this from happening WITHOUT restricting 2A rights. So many things went unchecked here and it was the government that failed those kids in South Florida. We should make sure that we educate the public on that.

We live in dangerous times where the media has way too much influence over our younger generation. Our government only looks out for the elite politicians. Don't be willing to give up any more rights in the way of a compromise. Our constitution, our country was founded on these very principles that are being taken away from us everyday in the disguise of 'safer for everyone' laws.

Who do you think will do more damage to our rights? A snowflake liberal that thinks all guns should be banned and confiscated, or a gun owner that pretends to support the 2nd amendment while gradually accepting little infringements here and there that "don't really matter to me anyway"?

You sound like the kind of person ready to jump off a cliff for their beliefs, and expect others to do the same. And would mock and belittle those who would not jump with you. Farley, I'm glad there are people like you clawing for every 2A right we have. Truly.

I'm here to quietly sit in the background, shoot my guns as often as possible and enjoy life in general. If I can help by doing that, GREAT. If not, glad we have people like you. And getting into politics really isn't my thing other than the occasional misc post, or pissing off some anti 2A RL friend (for lolz).

-My Dad told me about the glory days. Took me shooting as a child (Great experience)
- I got old enough yo buy my own guns. now i have a few (great experience)

So I hear you. Just don't expect someone like me to have the same passion as you since I cannot empathize with you.

Keep ignoring everybody else telling you that you are wrong and your idea of "compromise" and "we have to give something up" so you can pretend like it's only me saying it. But you know the truth.

I can see where you might think guys like Farles or RThoe are 'extreme' in their views. But when you really sit back and look at what exactly is going on, you have to take a position. At some point, all of us will have to draw a line in the sand and say enough is enough. To the average guy that likes to shoot and own firearms, it may come much later. But by then it is probably too late.

It's not even about the 2A as much as it is about our government sticking their noses in and making laws that will not be followed up on, yet infringe on our day to day rights. There is absolutely NOTHING that makes sense about having more gun control laws in light of the South FL shooting. If you agree that age limits should be raised or bump-stocks banned makes sense, then you are saying that you as a gun-owner are part of the problem. That's really the root of the issue. WE ARE NOT THE PROBLEM. Even if you are a 'casual' gun owner then you should stand up and let that be known.

I know a few Canadians pretty well. I have played XBox for years with several. They ALL hate Trudeau. Canada has their 'California and New York' places as well. Don't classify them all as idiots. A good portion of them think just like we do.

I said it before, Trump is a phucking moron. He's a narcissistic chithead with a hard-on for Obama. If you listen to the entire gun bill thing yesterday, the REASON he wants to sign a gun bill is simply because Obama couldn't do it. It has nothing to do with gun rights or even gun-violence or even what the left or right wants. He simply wants to do it because it was "another Obama's failure", and he's willing to ram rod it through. If it wasn't for the GOP who want to preserve gun rights, then yeah, he would sign anything put in front of him. Much like he would with DACA. It isn't Trump himself that is stopping him, it's his opponents on the GOP side.

Understand though, he's the goddamn POTUS, but make no mistake, Trump is in this for himself, not the people, not the US, and for sure not for gun rights.
I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.

But lol dude this a MF'in internet forum, and ur trying to put down a legal gun owner, who is actively teaching and getting his circle of people more into firearms, and teaching them the sporting and utilitarian value of them.

With everything going on, why da fuk would you buy an M1, never mind a Springfield anything, when you can buy or build a top notch AR 308 for the same or less money?

Or you can tell me what an M1 has over this, besides weighing more

He simply wants to do it because it was "another Obama's failure", and he's willing to ram rod it through. It isn't Trump himself that is stopping him, it's his opponents on the GOP side.

Understand though, he's the goddamn POTUS, but make no mistake, Trump is in this for himself, not the people, not the US, and for sure not for gun rights.
You wanted Bernie sanders tho.

Nothing at all. I'm just shopping around and I do think the M1A is sexy. But please enlighten me on all that is in that pic? Did you build or buy it complete? Def one of my top options.

My only real dilemma never having owned any semi-auto .308's, is quality. I'm not trying to nickel and dime this build, I want it to be high end but I also don't want to close my eyes and throw money at it.

Options:
- AERO PRECISION - 308 AR 18" OEM RIFLE (https://www.brownells.com/firearms/r...RO%2bPRECISION)
Will this be comparable in performance with the highest end AR-10's? (reliability, accuracy)

- AERO PRECISION - 308 AR M5 LOWER RECEIVER (https://www.brownells.com/rifle-part...RO%2bPRECISION)
Or do you think building it myself over time will yield a better bang for my performance buck? I just rarely if ever have seen .308 uppers, or other pieces floating around on specials

- Skip the AR platform and go M1A? SCAR? Any other semi auto .308 that are highly reputable?

It’s also nice when at home and expecting a delivery. I love my Arlo and they already caught some piece of $hit looking for cars to get into and lots of action vids of my dog hunting in the yard when my wife forgets to disarm it in the morning before letting him out.
I'll have to look at geo fencing, didn't know that was an option. Already had to move some of the wife's decorative **** that blows in the wind. Our cleaning lady spent all day glancing at the camera when she was going in and out of the back door.

Agreed, I don't think the fact that his mags were only 10 rounds is a good thing, if anything they will want to eliminate 10 round mags as well.

Good points, as a 'casual' gun owner, my line in the sand is later than most on here. I understand what "shall not be infringed" means and that if you give an inch they take a mile, and that criminals don't follow laws in the first place, and that any gun related regulation, ban, law, etc. will not fix the problem but only hinder law abiding citizens. Guns don't kill people, people kill people, etc.

How many people feel the current laws are to strict? Something like 18+ for firearms, 21+ for handguns, register handguns, waiting period for handguns, Conceal and Carry License, in IL a FOID card. Some of these make sense to me, but all of them would be an infringement, right?

Where I went to highschool, we all still had guns in our trucks, shot stuff after school, town of 700 in essentially rural Kansas/Colorado. Our neighbor on the farm was a big WWII guy, he had some anti-tank gun bolted into the back of a ford ranger, I think he milled some silencers for his guns too, real nice fella. I would support lifting the ban on all firearms and related accessories, as long as there are registrations and background checks, etc for some of the items. When I was on the farm I started an application for a sawed off, just moved to IL before I ever got it through. I think it would be fun to shoot, but I understand requiring paperwork in order to have one. Maybe that does make me 'part of the problem.'
