The main difference between that Colt and a more expensive AR15 is usually free floating the barrel, improving the trigger, and then taking off weight. Making these rifles lightweight starts getting very expensive.

If you're interested in building one, you can get a better rifle for a similar cost, but you'll be doing things like installing your barrel on your upper which requires viceblocks and what not.
one of my clients makes parts/mods for AR15s so I might see what they can do for me

Oh please gtfo of here with that adopting a kid is yes a lot of responsibility but so is a gun especially an ar 15. And as far self defense more people kill themselves with guns than defending themselves. No man should have more than 1 gun in their household.

LOL, There are 300 mn guns in the US.

If you do a bad job owning an AR15, the outcome is likely that nothing happens at all. If you do a bad job raising a child, you can end up with the Parkland Shooter.

There are 2.5 million defensive gun uses a year, because not every defensive gun use ends with a dead man at the end of the barrel.

Meanwhile, anyone with access to a tall building can commit suicide.

LOL @ your arbitrary gun limit.

adding everything up along with the other modifications I be well over $1000. Damn expensive for someone that's just want to go to the range a few times a month and use it for home defense don't you think? That's why I was eyeing the M&P Sport 2. When I saw the meltdown video I was impressed.

$714.75+$28.45+$55.05+$57 for a Magpul CTR stock (You wouldn't want the PRS, it's for precision long range shooting, not a defensive carbine)

That's $850.

They're a fantastic rifle for taking out to the range and slow firing a few hundred rounds a year through.

Just got back from purchasing a Springfield 1911 TRP and gun store was PACKED. Probably 25 people waiting for help.

I live in CA where AR-15s are already banned unless you want to get the garbage "featureless" models, which most people were buying. Fortunately, I bought one before the 2017 ban.

Yes, but then you have to barrel it if your handguard isn't compatible with their nut, and it also has an 18" bbl.

So if you had gangbangers trying to gun you down, you'd use a boomerang? Trained killer kangaroo? The fact you are coping with your lack of ability to defend yourself is pretty pitiful. We have a much more diverse landscape, much more tightly packed populations, more tension, etc. Also it's pretty sad you really care that much. You remind me of the little kid in timeout who's mad other kids get to play with all of the toys. Not everyone wants to wait 15-60 minutes for police response when their lives are threatened.

Per interpretations of the Constitution, that kind of is what it means. Can't defend yourself from a tyrannical government with just pistols. While it's QUITE debatable you likely wouldn't be able to with just AR-15s, either, your comment does require understanding the basis of the 2nd amendment, and it's not home protection from invaders.
All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone.

My worry is you are chitting on the "I shoot a few times during the summer crew". For that group the poverty sport II seems to have pretty universally positive reviews.

Not everyone has 800 dollars to spend on a build which seems to be right around the minimum to hit your standards.

I really appreciate all the help you gave me for my build, but not everyone has that kind of free cash. The more people that have ARs the harder it is to pass bans with out serious blowback.

The 18 inch option lets people get in a bit lower.
