I'm drinking a beer. Not very heady though, unfortunately.

I want to coat a 11.5" barrel gold.

Thanks. Also I believe someone asked what distance earlier but I forgot to reply. It is 6 feet. Vast majority of self defense shootings happen well inside of 10 feet so that is where the majority of my drills and chit take place. Also I can’t shoot that fast from much further than 6-10 feet before I begin throwing shots outside of those combat effective hit boxes which on the VTAC targets I believe are like 5”x5” on chest and the one on the head is like 4”x5”. If we’re talking sheet of paper sized target I can maintain that speed up to about 8-10 yards before I have to start slowing it down.

Nailed it! (guessed 6 feet)

Try this (5 yards)

https://www.swatmag.com/article/five...hooting-drill/

tl;dr

Every string is done at 5 yards with a par time of 2.5 seconds, at an NRA B8 repair center
1. Draw and fire 1 round
2. 4 rounds freestyle from ready
3. 3 rounds strong hand only from ready
4. 2 rounds weak hand only from ready

(6 feet is just too close and requires too little marksmanship to be the mainstay of training or proficiency testing, lots happens close but not necessarily that close)

Try a Half Test too. NRA B8 at 5 yards, 10 rounds from ready, par time 5 seconds

Nothing inside of 10 feet requires any sort of marksmanship. I don’t use sights at all inside of 10 feet. My eyes are 100% focusing on nothing but the target. Inside of 10 feet for me is purely about how fast I can draw and get combat effective hits on target.

Goals to shoot like that (on paper outdoors)

I want to try this. Can’t shoot 10 rounds in 5 seconds at the range though.

Yeah I didn’t think you had to aim, it didn’t seem like you did. It’s good to practice that natural stuff.

I wish I had space and a place to be able to practice drills and shooting while moving outdoors around here
